Question about 1999 Mercury Cougar

1999 cougar when it gets cold out.car will not idle, once it warms up it does, still runs little rough tho. when its warm out it runs fine,no problems at all. changed plugs,wires,fuel filter,pcv. 1 out of the three o2 sensors. any suggestions on what it could be......have to keep foot on gas till it warms up, winter around corner dont want to be doing that! thanks for any help.

    I have the same problem. It will only start if I hold the clutch fully and the accelerator about 1/4 down. The car will only idle when I make it with the accelerator. Not sure what to do.

    engine will stall while driving or at stop. engine will start when cold but must hold down gas pedal to keep running.

Rough idle after engine is warm


Dirty air filter, dirty throttle body...try 2 bottles of gas line fuel injector cleaner...has your car been parked for awhile? Heet gas additive will work on any low gas tank sludge that you may have. Hope this helps.

because the combustion inside the engine is going wrong the quantity of air getting inside is not the needed quantity maybe less than or more in cold will cause such problem once the engine warm up than the engine temperature is up you will not find this problem because the point of firing will be near

Could be the fast idle sensor check to see that the vacume line is hooked up properly.
