If only one seat belt does not move when you open door then check the pink wire in the rubber boot passing from the door panel to the cabin around the door hinge, however if it is both seat belts that don't move when their respective doors are opened, the problem is in a little box located right under the hand brake lever, behind the shift lever, of course you have to remove some of the decor to get to it.

Its not getting the signal that the door is closed from the latch, the wire breaks at the hinge, if you open the door, find the black rubber hose going into the door, tear this open, inside there are a series of wires, its the small pink wire, this is broken. Very common on this car, mine has the same problem

Seat belts won't move, windows won't go down. Temperature gauge not working, a/c won't come on. All fuses check ok.

By mentioning that all fuses checked OK -- hoping you did not miss the main -- large fuses in the engine compartment. The ones that are bolted on.

Shoulder belt not operating, belt motor good, fuses good. Possible fuseable link or relay damage??? All wires and contacts appear normal.

The service manual says to open the access panel on the door post a couple inches from floor. This is the belt anchor motor cover. Turn the knob clockwise to move the belt manually until it is in the proper position. ( It probably just got out of cycle and this will sync it again)

1990 toy. camry. intermitent problem with electric window controls (drivers) and (drivers) automatic seat belt. now completely stopped working. ??

Did you check the fuses? open the drivers door should be down there above the pedals, if more major problem open the hood and check the fuse box on the driver side of the car, more fuses are stored there

Seat belt wont move

you probably need to be mechanically inclined to fix this problem. When the shoulder strap stopped working on mine the switch that is operated by the door latch had to be serviced. ie: the door will have to be taken apart to access the switch.

I have a 1989 Toyota Camry and am having difficulty with driver seat belt activation. What sensor or component tells the seatbelt to activate? Where is it located?

I have a 1990 camry and my driver side belt stopped working too. The problem is the wires that run from the door to inside the vehicle. Open your door, look in the doorjam for the black rubber piece. The wires inside it bend every time you open and close your door and eventually break. The only solution is to cut the rubber and resplice the wires which is a big pain in the ***. It took me a few frustrating hours, but, I heard it's easier if you take the door off. I left a lengthy amount of wire, wrapped in electrical tape, behind the front quarter panel to prevent it from bending again. This is a very common problem with camrys of these years.
