WHY DO THE BRAKE LIGHT FUSE BLOW WHEN YOU HIT THE BRAKE PEDAL?

Check the bulbs,could be bad or/and the bulb holder is corruded or moisture is present.The wiring could be bad at the bulb.
  • Stoplight switch directs current to the stop lights, cruise control, and shift interlock to turn them on or off
  • When not replaced, stop lights will run continually or not function, potentially causing premature bulb failure, safety issues and/or the transmission will not shift out of park

    Brake light not working

    THERE IS A FUSE, USUALLY IT WILL BE LABELED STOP. THE ONE THAT SAYS BRAKE MAY BE FOR THE ABS TWO DIFFERENT THINGS. { REPLACE THE STOP FUSE } . IF THE STOPLIGHT SWITCH IS BAD, IT IS NOT EASY TO CHANGE. IF THE TURN SIGNALS ARE WORKING IN THE REAR OF THE TRUCK, THAT MEANS THE BULBS ARE O.K. A BAD TURN SIGNAL SWITCH CAN ALSO KEEP THE STOPLIGHTS FROM WORKING, { LAST RESORT, EXPENSIVE & HARD TO REPLACE }

    Stoplights not working peugeot 206 looked at all bulbs and fuses all good

    Check the contacts at the bulb. My old Peugeot 505 had to have the bulbs pressed firmly to the "printed circuit" type connector. As the bulb contact became worn over the years the contact lessened. On the old type bulbs you could add solder to the contacts and they would be good as new. On your vehicle you may need to replace the bulb. Use diaelectric grease when re-assembling to not let air or water corrode the contacts.

    2003 Grand Caravan - Was told by friendly motorist that stoplights were out, all three. ASSuMEd that the bulbs should be OK as all three stopped working at the same time. Fuse checked out OK so I replaced...

    So did you check you bulbs or just assume they were good?? As far as the click you hear in the colume that sounds like the park lock releasing wich is normal.

    Left rear brake light stopped working but bulb and fuses are OK.

    These are Dual Function Bulbs. They control the Parking Lights and the Brake Lights. This Bulb is Burnt out on the Brake Coil inside the Bulb. I have actually seen Bulbs that were Bad But you could not Tell by jast looking at them. It should be fine with a New Bulb. Please Rate My Response! Thanks!

    Brake lights out at separate times, but both bulbs okay.

    i would double check the bulbs, i dont know much about escapes but most cars run a twin filament bulb, one is for taillights, the other for stoplights, if its not that it may be a brake sensor fault or somethings shorting out somewhere.

    High mount stoplight

    I, too, have this same problem with my car. All the fuses are fine, and the bulbs are fine. The brake light in the back window works, but the read ones do not. This is crazy.
