SOURCE: Heater core - 1996 Lincoln Town Car

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Drain the cooling system and disconnect the heater hoses from the heater core tubes. Plug the hoses and the heater core tubes to prevent coolant leakage.
  3. Remove the 3 nuts located below the windshield wiper motor attaching the left end of the plenum to the dash panel. Remove the 1 nut retaining the upper left corner of the evaporator case to the dash panel.
  4. Disconnect the vacuum supply hose(s) from the vacuum source. Push the grommet and vacuum supply hose(s) into the passenger compartment.
  5. Remove the right and left lower instrument panel insulators.
  6. On 1990-00 vehicles:
    1. Remove the cross body brace and disconnect the wiring harness from the temperature blend door actuator.
    2. Disconnect the ATC sensor tube from the evaporator case connector.
  7. Disconnect the vacuum jumper harness at the multiple vacuum connector near the floor air distribution duct. Disconnect the white vacuum hose from the outside-recirculating door vacuum motor.
  8. Remove the 2 hush panels.
  9. Remove 1 plastic push fastener retaining the floor air distribution duct to the left end of the plenum. Remove the left screw and loosen the right screw on the rear face of the plenum and remove the floor air distribution duct.
  10. Remove the 2 nuts from the 2 studs along the lower flange of the plenum.
  11. Carefully move the plenum rearward to allow the heater core tubes and the stud at the top of the plenum to clear the holes in the dash panel. Remove the plenum from the vehicle by rotating the top of the plenum forward, down and out from under the instrument panel. Carefully pull the lower edge of the instrument panel rearward, as necessary, while rolling the plenum from behind the instrument panel.
  12. Remove the 4 retaining screws from the heater core cover and remove the cover from the plenum assembly. Pull the heater core and seal assembly from the plenum assembly.
To install:
  1. Carefully install the heater core and seal assembly into the plenum assembly. Visually check to ensure that the core seal is properly positioned. Position the heater core cover and install the 4 retaining screws.
  2. Route the vacuum supply hose through the dash panel and seat the grommet in the opening.
  3. Position the plenum under the instrument panel with the register duct opening up and the heater core tubes down. Rotate the plenum up behind the instrument panel and position the plenum to the dash panel. Insert the heater core tubes and mounting studs through their respective holes in the dash panel and the evaporator case.
  4. Install the 3 nuts on the studs along the lower flange and one on the upper flange of the plenum. Install the 3 nuts below the windshield wiper motor to attach the left end of the plenum to the dash panel and the one nut to retain the upper left corner of the evaporator case to the dash panel.
  5. Position the floor air distribution duct on the plenum. Install the 2 screws and plastic push fastener. If removed, position the panel door vacuum motor to the mounting bracket and install the 2 attaching screws.
  6. Connect the white vacuum hose to the outside-recirculating door vacuum motor. Connect the vacuum jumper harness to the plenum harness at the multiple vacuum connector near the floor air distribution duct. Install the floor duct.
  7. If equipped with manual air conditioning, connect the temperature control cable housing to the bracket on top of the plenum and connect the temperature control cable to the temperature blend door crank arm. Adjust the temperature cable.
  8. If equipped with ATC, proceed as follows:
  9. Connect the temperature control cable to the ATC sensor and adjust the cable. Route and connect the vacuum harness connector to the ATC sensor and connect the electrical connector to the ATC servo connector. Do not block the sensor aspirator exhaust port with the excess vacuum harness. Install the ATC sensor tube between the sensor and the evaporator connector.
  10. On 1990-00vehicles:
    1. Connect the ATC sensor tube to the evaporator case connector.
    2. Install the cross body brace and connect the wiring harness to the blend door actuator.
    3. Install the bolt to attach the lower right end of the instrument panel to the side cowl. Install the right side cowl trim panel and tighten the right door sill plate attaching screws.
  11. Connect the vacuum supply hose(s) to the vacuum source.
  12. Install the right and left lower instrument panel insulators and install the 2 hush panels.
  13. Unplug the heater core tubes and the heater hoses and connect the heater hoses to the heater core tubes. Fill the cooling system.
  14. Connect the negative battery cable and check the system for proper operation. I hope this helps. Don,t forget to rate my answer.

SOURCE: low speed fan relay for the 2005 chrysler town and country

If you are talking about the cooling fan relay for the radiator there is no low speed and high speed relay. There is only one relay and it is behind the grill revitted to the bumper rail. It is doesnt look like you typical relay.

the relay is located in the power distribution box under the hood the relay will be a square black or gray cube just pull out and make sure you rerplace it with the same type relay. refer to your owners manual for any questions regarding the fuses and relays

I had the same problem on my 07 and it turned out to be caused by the bulbs getting too hot and melting the surrounding plastic which opened the circuit powering them. I was able to fix the problem by removing the bulbs and cleaning the sockets allowing the bulbs to seat correctly. The lenses snap off to give you access to the bulbs. If you are not familiar with how interiors of cars come apart, I would not suggest doing it as you may crack the lens.

SOURCE: 2005 Chrysler Town & Country. Passenger side window problem.

HAVEK 1005 sounds right on track.... but also try this, usually works well for non functional power windows, specially Caravans.

NO COST PROCEDURE TO FIX IT:

1. Sit in vehicle, on seat next to problematic window
2. Ignition key is on
3. Door in question is opened (in case you closed it)
4. While door is open, press and hold power window button in desired window travel, keep button pressed !!
5. SLAM hard the door closed with one hand while other hand holds button as per #4.
6. Watch window operate as it should.
7. Repeat 3-6 if necessary, but usually the first try works!

NOW, for the naysayers that says you must replace power window motors etc, at $$$ cost because the above fix does not work, or is not long lasting fix, or less than a "professional fix".... Well then, when the window fails to operate again, apply same fix again at that time.

I have fixed my van this way numerous times (usually once a year), and to all local friends I recommend this fix too, likewise do the same and are happy with the solution.

I have done it on a different vehicle. It is not an easy task and it took me at least 2 hours to do it.

The heater in my 2005 chrysler town and country mini van blows heat then turns cold


Make sure your radiator is full of coolant, if it is low the heater core cant get enough hot coolant in it to keep the air warm. If that's not the poroblem it could be a problem with your air exchanger that switches from hot to cold which could be a vaccume line leak. But I bet you're just low on Coolant.

My heater hoses have been removed and bypassed. I need a heater hose diagram for my 1998 chrysler town and country van with a 3.8 L. I don't know which hose will plug into which heater core tube


That's easy

Drive around back of a dealer,walk in the open
service bay doors & ask a tech to come out &
tell you.

I have a 2005 chrysler town & country the a.c. works great most of the time, but sometimes it will start cycling from cold to hot @ the vents.


My mom has your same vehicle and hers is doing the same thing. I am going to pick up a cheap pair of needle nose vise grip pliers from Harbor Freight and clamp them on the heater hose. The heater control valve is allowing heated coolant to enter the heater core, so it acts like the heater and the A/C are on together, at the same time. This will save the expense of having the heater control valve replaced. Then in the fall when you need heat again, just remove the pliers.

You can see the two heater hoses going into the firewall just behind the engine. You can clamp the pliers on either hose to stop the hot coolant from entering the heater core and heating up the air. Hope this helps. Have a nice week :O)

2005 Town & Chrysler heat is not working properly


check the hoses going to the heater core. if there is an extreme temperature difference you may have a heater core plugging up
