Diagnostics code po401 honda passport not shifting

code p 0401 refers to exhaust gas recirculation valve (EGR) system insufficient flow detected ====causes --hose leak/blockage --basic setting not carried out (if applicable)--wiring--EGR valve --EGR solenoid---ECM
has little to do with not shifting unless the leak is affecting the vacuum actuator for the transmission
so check for vacuum leaks in hoses in the engine bay

99 Honda Passport EGR valve what's the difference between $49.00 valve and $300 valve both have the same warranty?

If they are both new EGR valves, the difference is $251. That's the only difference :) (An EGR valve that works is an EGR valve that works... no premiums or upgrades or high definition or anything... just an EGR valve.)

I have a 2000 honda 3.0 v6 accord and i have a code reading of P0401. I changed the EGR valve and I am still getting the same reading. What else do I need to check and do I need to run some type of cleaner...

On your model car you have to replace to EGR valve and clean the ERG port. To clean the port you have to remove intake maniflod. Use a drill bit and drill the build up out. Don't drill any metal, just the carbon build up. Honda make a kit for this repair, but you got to buy the EGR kit and the drill bit kit. Most people just replace the EGR valave and clean the port. See picture below on where EGR port is located(right side picture).
good luck

P401 code?

P0401 OBD-II Trouble Code - Insufficient EGR Flow

What does that mean?
EGR stands for Exhaust Gas Recirculation. It is part of the vehicle emmissions system, and is used to reduce combustion temperature and pressure to control Oxides of Nitrogen. There are generally three parts to the EGR system: the EGR valve, an actuator solenoid, and a differential pressure sensor EGR (DPFE). These things work together to deliver the correct amount of recirculation based on engine temperature, load, etc. The P0401 code means that OBD detected an insufficient amount of EGR.

Symptoms
You may notice drivability problems such as pinging (a.k.a. pre-ignition knock) when the engine is under load or the vehicle is at higher speeds. There may also be other symptoms.

Causes
A code P0401 most likely means one or more of the following has happened:
* The DPFE (differential pressure feedback EGR) sensor is faulty and needs to be replaced
* There is a blockage in the EGR (tube), most likely carbon buildup
* The EGR valve is faulty
* The EGR valve may not be opening due to a lack of vaccuum

Possible Solutions
In fixing this code, it is quite common for people to just replace the EGR valve only to have the OBD code return. The EGR valve is not always the culprit.
* Use a vacuum pump and pull the EGR valve open while monitoring engine RPM's & DPFE voltage. There should be a noticable difference in RPM's with the EGR open
* Clean out the EGR valve and/or tubing to remove deposits
* Check the voltage at the DPFE, compare to specified values (refer to a repair manual for your specific model)
* Replace the DPFE sensor (with a good quality / OEM one)
* Replace the EGR valve

Hope this helped (remember comment and rated this).

Where is throttle position sensor located on 2000 honda passport

Normally attached at opposite end of throttle linkage. Remove your air cleaner intake hose at throttle body, and observe throttle plate that opens & closes as you press accelerator, it will be at the end of that, on outside of housing.

Speedometer doesn't work on a 1997 honda passport 6 cyl.

It probably uses a sensor instead of a cable to register speed. Realistically speaking the vehicle needs to go to a qualified repair shop with the proper diagnostic tool to determine what component is not functioning. Perhaps you can buy and install the part yourself. Most vehicles need to be diagnosed on an electronic tester.
