Question about 1997 Oldsmobile LSS

1 Answer

Heater Core I have a 1997 Olds LSS with 245k miles on it. No shame for the car, but it has a a bad heater core. Coolant is on the floor (passenger side. Where is it located (center/passenger side), and how hard is it to get to? Thanks.

My mechanic tells me it is almost impossible to get to it without
taking out the dash. This will give you the clearance you need
to replace it. You might try it from under the dash if you have a
good back but i don.t think there's enough clearance to get it out.
I bought a salvage 1997 lss Olds and the airbag popped the dash
so we had to replace it. Not an easy task unless you've done it
before.

Coolant leaking on passenger floor

Sounds like the heater core is leaking. The heater core is located inside the vehicle, usually contained within a plastic box, when the heater core leaks enough, the plastic box will fill up with coolant and eventually leak out, usually onto the passenger side floor. Hope this helps.

The heater blows cool air not warm air

First check and make sure that your coolant(antifreeze) level is full, the hot coolant runs through the heater core and than air is blown over the heater core heating the air for the heater. if the coolant is full you than need to check the thermostat and make sure it is functioning properly. finally if both of those are not the problem it is possible that your heater core is bad, however if the heater core is bad you will notice coolant leaking onto the passenger side floor. so if the floor is dry I would say the heater core is not the problem

Water standing on passagers side, drove about 50 miles low coolant light came on running fine and heater seems to be working

The problem is that the heater core has started to leak. The 'water' on the passenger side floor is actually coolant that is leaking from the heater core (hence the low coolant light).

Getting water in front passenger floor boaed, what might cause it?

Clogged or disconnected drain hose from the heater core box. Or bad/leaking heater core. Does the liquid smell like coolant. If so bad heater core. If not and the water only when you use the AC then it is a drain hose issue. If neither of those pan out you could have a leaky windshield. However 99% of the time a wet passenger floor is caused by a bad heater core or drain hose.

Ok i change my heater core on my car olds delta 88 1994 but my cooling light come on and off and the passagner floor still wet but it not over heating and the tempture hand stay betweet 200 and the...

1- There is a leak at the 2 hoses connecting to the heater core causing a leak at the passenger floor. 2- The radiator is full because it is clogged up so coolant can not go down from the top, but it has actually low coolant level due to a leak.
Have you replaced the 2 pieces of hoses when you replace the the heater core?

Wet floor on passenger side under carpet

Wet with water or wet with anti freeze? If its water, it could be from the a/c evaporator drain stopped up, if its antifreeze its from a heater core leaking.
