Same problem, if I lock the vehicle I can expect to be woken up in the middle of the night with the alarm waking the neighbours. Please let me know how to resolve this issue.

We had the same problem this morning ( outside temp was 10 below zero ) The alarm started blaring... and starting the engine did not make it go turn off ! We had to disconnect the battery cable. ** also, not sure if this has anything to do with this problem or not, but, our dashboard security light is staying lit all the time , while driving. The alarm system works.. but, the light just stays on.. If anyone can help with either issue.. please let us know... ( our le sabre has only 40 thousand miles on it ). bbmanszewski@aol.com

I disabled the Checkmate alarm with the Valet botton so the siren does not go off, the factory alarm ( the Horn ) still goes at times when I lock the doors. The Security light flashes sometimes even with out the alarm going off when I start the car ,then it clears. Its seems to happen when the weather is cold.I have 33,000 miles on the car garage kept and want to keep it. I called the service manager he said the factory alarm works with the key cylinder for the door and trunk locks. He said it cannot be bypassed. So I may have to take it them and pay the price.Any suggestions before I take it in for service?

I had the same problem. The alarm system on my 1997 Le Sabre self-actuates. Luckily, it went off once when I popped the trunk. I went to Auto Zone and bought a generic trunk replacement lock. I noticed the original lock had a funky push-pull type of switch used to activate the alarm. This switch was likely hair-line on/off and when the temperature changed, it activated.

I went ahead and replaced the lock without the switch, but you can try simply unplugging the switch through the hole in the metal behind the lock to see if that might stop the alarm from arming itself (or cut the wire).

Good luck, it's a "hairy" problem.

Mercury Mountaineer car alarm sounds for no reason

Try using the doorkey after the door has been closed as if you did not have power locks. But most of the time, its automatic with the antitheft.

A shorting battery can activate the antitheft system. Have the battery tested.

Buick lesabre 97 car alarm goes off for no reason why?

Most likely, you have a vacuum leak if steam is coming from your defrost vent in a 1997 Buick LeSabre. There are approximately 600 million passenger cars worldwide (roughly one car per eleven people). --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

sounds like you have a short in the horn wiring or a bad ground wire these grounds are mostly located under the engine compartment near the back wall whitch is called the fire wall or beside the fenders

Help! my car is possessed

i may be wrong at this but i think it's your alarm system. headlights, doors and horn all connects to an alarm system (if your alarm system does this) i mean, some alarms, when you unlock or lock your car, the lights turn and horn blows simultaneously with the alarm. if you have an alarm system that seem to malfunction, it may also affect your doors, horn lights etc. have it checked or replaced.

well, as ive said, i may be wrong. =)
