Trying to take off the snaped on cover. Yep, you can not do. They must want you to buy

the WHOLE unit again. I need to replace the socket wirer. For some reason it shorted and

was burnt. Could not get at the wires...to remove and replace the new wire. My low beams would not work!!! Socket was BAD.

Soooo we spliced the new socket unit to the old , weld , covered and IT worked

YOU must not have had the problem to replace :-) How come Gmc does not make this

    cover easy??

Hick fix,
You are not understanding... The socket end is melted, burned, shorted.
I can not put a new bulb into this sock. because it is BAD. AND I can not
get down into the cover unit to replace the socket. .. So connected the new socket
to the old... first cleaned up the bad part. m

I hear from others... YOU can not unsnap the cover.

Thanks

You cant take the cover off without breaking it, the two halves are sealed together. Why are you trying to pull them apart anyway?

The sockets can unplug from the bulb, the bulb can be removed from the headlight lense, and the lense can be removed from the grill. So there really is no reason to try to split the lense in half like you wanted to, to fix the wiring. If there isn't enough room to fix it by just pulling the socket out, just pull out the entire lense. Every car company has gone to the same style.

Replace low beam headlamp 2004 trailblazer

Passenger side- remove the air cleaner (2-3 screws) Then you have clear access to the back of the headlight. Feel for the rubber round dust boot, and remove it. Then remove and replace the bulb.

Drivers side, stick your hand down behind the headlight, feel for the rubber round boot. Remove this and then remove and replace the bulb.

The other method involves removing the grill, but it's brittle so not worth cracking or breaking this.

The manual does not show how to replace the headlamp bulbs. There is a reference in the back for headlamp replacement, yet when I turn to the referenced page, the taillamp replacement is shown.

1 method is to remove the grill, and pull the headlights out to replace the bulb. I don't like this method for one reason, the grill is brittle, can crack or break easily if not pulled out carefully.

Here's what I do:

Drivers side- I stick my hand down by the alternator and over behind the headlight. Remove the rubber cover and twist the light out.

Passengers side- I take the top of the air cleaner off, then you have complete access to the rubber covers and bulbs.

5 minute job to do both sides.

How do you change the headlamp on a 2004 Chev. TrailBlazer?

Drivers side is easy, stick your hand down by the alternator and over to the back of the headlight assembly. You'll feel a rubber round boot, pull this off and twist out the bulb.

Passenger side, remove the air cleaner top, and move the air cleaner out of the way. You'll now visually see the rubber boot covering the bub.

How do you change headlights on a 2006 trailblazer ls?

first remove the headlamp assembly. there should be one or two clamps with a rubber grip vertically inserted behind the headlamp. they can be difficult but you just pull them up to remove the assembly. Then the socket should have either a snap in or twist in retention system remove it and you can pull the bulb. when you replace the new one be sure not to handle it with your hands. use a clean cloth, glove, or other item to insert it and then reverse the procedure to install the rest.

All you have to do is find the "round rubber cover" on the back of the headlamp, pry it out with a flathead screwdriver and the lamp is right there.
To remove the headlamp assembly on a Trailblazer, remove the plastic panel that covers the hood latch assembly.
Take the cover for the air filter in order to get to the low beam cover.
Take the 3 screws out of the air filter cover and remove. You will then be able to get to the back of the low beam lamp. The high beam is reachable without this hassle.
