I have the same problem. Checked the brake fluid level and it was dry. Do cylinders leak or just break lines?

  • grumpy_ed Nov 27, 2008

I have the same problem, but the fluids are a little low so I fixed. I have installed new pad on all four tire as well as bleed the break, but still hard as a rock. My brother inlaw was able to remove a fuse on an amigo that disabled ABS when four wheeling. Can I have a bad fuse somewhere? I am at a loss at this point.

You likely have a defective power assist power brake booster, have a brake shop confirm this for you.

Where is the brake booster located on the 93 grand voyager. I looked at the part on line but dont see it anywhere near the master cylinder

If your van has Antilock brakes it does not have a vacum booster.
I have the same van and the brake system is a bad design.
A 93 Plymouth/Dodge with antilock brake system and no vaccum booster but a pressure tank then it has a lifetime warrenty. Check with your local Chrysler/Dodge dealership. But first go online and get the tech sheet or recall notice.

Break padle is very hard...was told abs system is bad and that there was a recall is that true ...the recall part

Yes a 1993 Chrysler / dodge / plymouth with Antilock brake system has lifetime warrenty on said system. It is a bad design and dangerous. Mine stopped working and it took extreme pressure on brake pedal plus emergency brakes to get it stopped.

96 plymouth grand voyager is stuck on park what does that mean?

Your problem might be with the brake light switch. This switch is under the brake pedal, and when the pedal is pressed, it lets you shift your van out of park. This switch also activates the brake lights when you press the brake pedal. Try checking if your brake lights work. These switches are inexpensive, and very easy to replace.

I suggest check your brake light switch; generally, this is located in back side of ther brake pedal; also, confirm if your brake lights work fine.

Additional details could find in your additional questions: 96_plymouth_grand_voyager_stuck

Good luck.

Rather than guess at this you should go pay the 40 dollar diagnosis and if your capable then choose to repair it yourself. Brakes are not something you want to trust someone on the internet to fix for you.

94 Plymouth Voyager ABS light stays on

Had a similar problem a number of years back. Underneath the brake pedal arm is a small switch with a plunger. when you press the pedal down it moves the plunger in and engages the brake lights. when you let off it's supposed to pop back out (turning the lights back off). Possible it is getting stuck in the down position and could need to be replaced. very easy to install and only about an 8 dollar fix.
