Question about 1999 Honda Accord

Door locks are faulty

When I hit the electric switch for my door locks, it only locks the front left door and sometimes the back. I noticed if I open and shut the door, The front passenger side door locks. I know there has been a recall on this but is their a solution so I can fix this myself?

I do not remember the number but I googled 1999 Honda Accord Recalls and I found people reported the locks not working correctly and their issue was related to the same issue I had.

It sounds like you got a short and since the short is after the main fuse try looking a the individual fuses for each door and then find a diagram and start tracking wire!

07grandprix my door locks are all actin up sometimes they work & sometimes they dont I can set the alarm even tho they wont lock & the alarm goes off if u open the door but won't lock with the key/pad

The Power Door Lock System is controlled by the body control module (BCM) and can be activated by any one of the following
?€¢
A door lock switch lock or unlock actuation.

?€¢
A door lock cylinder switch unlock actuation.

?€¢
A keyless entry transmitter actuation.

?€¢
An automatic door lock actuation (Personalization function).

?€¢
An automatic door unlock actuation (Personalization function).

?€¢
A last door closed locking (LDCL) actuation (Personalization function).

Door Lock Operation
When the body control module (BCM) detects a transition of either of the door lock switches to the lock position, it switches the door lock actuator lock control circuit to voltage. Since the lock actuator unlock control circuits are at ground potential within the BCM, the door lock actuator motors transition to the lock position.
Driver Door Unlock Operation
When the body control module (BCM) detects a transition of either of the door lock switches to the unlock position, it switches the driver door lock actuator unlock control circuit to voltage. Since the door lock actuator lock control circuit is at ground potential within the BCM, the left front (LF) door lock actuator motor transitions to the Unlock position.
The driver door lock actuator unlock control circuit is a dedicated control circuit used only for the driver door lock actuator motor. This is done so that the driver door may be unlocked by itself using a keyless entry transmitter or an automatic door unlock function (if programmed).
Faulty electrical connections or wiring may be the cause of intermittent conditions. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections.
A factory scan tool would help for checking inputs from the door switches to the BCM ! You could do it with out scan tool , a lot more work involved ! Need a wiring diagram an a component location chart an wiring harness routing diagram !
Most intermittent conditions are caused by faulty electrical connections or wiring. Inspect for the following items:
?€¢
Wiring broken inside the insulation

?€¢
Poor connection between the male and female terminal at a connector

?€¢
Poor terminal to wire connection--Some conditions which fall under this description are poor crimps, poor solder joints, crimping over the wire insulation rather than the wire itself, and corrosion in the wire to terminal contact area, etc.

?€¢
Pierced or damaged insulation can allow moisture to enter the wiring causing corrosion. The conductor can corrode inside the insulation, with little visible evidence. Look for swollen and stiff sections of wire in the suspect circuits.

?€¢
Wiring which has been pinched, cut, or its insulation rubbed through may cause an intermittent open or short as the bare area touches other wiring or parts of the vehicle.

?€¢
Wiring that comes in contact with hot or exhaust components

?€¢
Refer to Inducing Intermittent Fault Conditions in order to duplicate the conditions required, in order to verify the customer concern.

?€¢
Refer to Testing for Electrical Intermittents for test procedures to detect intermittent open, high resistance, short to ground, and short to voltage conditions.

?€¢
Refer to Scan Tool Snapshot Procedure for advanced intermittent diagnosis and Vehicle Data Recorder operation.

The rear door on my 2010 highlander says it's open and getting nuisance alarms. I know the sensor is in the locking mechanism, however that part is $400. Where is the door ajar chime so I can remove it?

Here is what another Highlander owner said: "2010 Highlander 4WD: System check panel I indicating the rear door is open, when it's not. Been to dealer 3 times. Car has 6000 miles on it. The rear door open indicator effects door locking ability with key fob as well as continual chime indicating rear door is open in conjunction with turning dome light off and on. Dealer thought it was rear door strike plate. Adjusted accordingly. This was not the problem. 3rd visit to dealer still trying to pinpoint why this is happening so far no luck. Electrical bad door sensor faulty electrical door switch this problem is very annoying and now times consuming 3 visits to the dealer and still no solution. Rear door open indicator initially made to stop by rolling down driver side window at highway speed. Indicator also made to go off when road turns to the left only. <- " moisture causing short in rear door electrical switch" maybe.

something like this. You can remove it.

Why door lock actuator ford fusion wont open

There are a number of reasons why the operation of the actuator is sporadic: loose connection, dirty switch, broken wiring, worn out actuator and presence of moisture. First off there are two types of actuators for the 06 Fusion. One is the "gun style" with 5 leads:153b4309-5c65-45e0-804b-4122d85154a2.jpg
These run about $17 and are available on eBay at: New Door Lock Actuator
The other type is the motor driven actuator which is a bit more complex and consequently, pricier at about $90. 67cda6bc-38e2-407d-a6cc-48cdbdb7a860.jpeg
These are also available on eBay at http://www.ebay.com/itm/Door-Lock-Actuator-Motor-Front-Right-Dorman-937-615-/221488538735?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Year%3A2006%7CMake%3AFord%7CModel%3AFusion&hash=item3391bee46f&vxp=mtr
Be sure to stipulate "Front Left" or "Rear Right", etc.
That being said, you will want to trouble shoot the simpler stuff first. Pull the door panel http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ffx893MvVHo
and inspect the switches for signs of damage or debris (spilled coffee, bits of dirt, etc) They should operate smoothly and return to the neutral position without sticking. Using a continuity tester, verify that the switch does, in fact work. Replacing a faulty switch is very easy and the least costly of the possible causes. Since this problem is sporadic, I am assuming that the fuse is good as otherwise it would never work. Ditto wiring unless you see a pinch/break in the harness going to the door. Sometimes merely unplugging the series of harness connectors associated with the door lock actuator and spraying Electrical Contact cleaner on all connections and reconnecting will solve the problem. In any event, start with the easy/cheap stuff and work through to the more expensive difficult items. Some of the motorized door actuators from Ford are an absolute nightmare to replace, so do your homework before starting. Good Luck!

Open door chimes and keys left in in car chimes plus left on chimes not working question what operates chimes door lock ?

Door left open chime is operated by your interior light switch. It is located in a few places on different vehicles. Often in the door jam at the front or low down on the pillar at the rear of the door. You will notice a little black rubber boot and when you push it it goes in and out. That is your interior light switch.

1993 Nissan Maxima SE Car Alarm freaks out, and other electrical

Im no professional but i did recently buy a 93 maxima and i have the same security alarm problem and my powered locks dont work at all. im taking off the door panel today to take a look and see if the alarm sensor is loose or damaged, if it is, ill probably just disconnect it. one thing i have noticed though is that when i hit the lock or unlock button, i hear a faint click from the dashboard area which im assuming is the solenoid on a transistor which would mean that the buttons work but the transistor isnt delivering power. Semi-Solution for Locks: Listen for very quiet click when you lock/unlock doors, if you hear it, uve got major work to do, if you dont, then take apart the door and check the switch connections. Semi-Solution for Alarm: take off the door panel and disconnect the sensor.

Doors wont all lock at the same time on my '95 saab 9000cs. i have to manually lock them individually. My dashboard lights flicker, sometimes the lights will stay on and sometimes i have to tap the switch...

When you use your remote or insert your key in the Drivers Front door all the door locks should work at the same time by the door lock motors electrically. If you have to manually unlock the door because it will not lock or unlock by the lock motor, you need a door lock motor. The drivers and passengers front doors can unlocked with the key manually only. The rear doors you have to pull up the latch.
If NONE of doors unlock electrically with the remote or drivers door lock, intermittently or all the time, you will need a Central Locking Electronic Control Module. Pressing the remote button you will hear the "beep", but no door locks will fire at all.
If you have a few odd door locks not working intermittently or not at all, you will need a new door lock motor for each door lock that malfunctions. You can hear if the door locks are working electrically. Yes, they are common problem.
If you can hear the door lock motor working but the door still doesn't unlock you need to take the door panel off and lubricate the door latch assembly and work the lock, loosening it up. This is common as well.
Sometimes a bad door lock motor can blow the central locking fuse. You will notice it because it will take a second or two longer to lock and unlock compared to the others. If the door lock motors seem fine, install a the next step up in amperage fuse. (From 15 AMP to a 20 AMP)
