Intermittent starting on 2000 grand caravan

Recently van will start fine multiple times , then acts as if battery is weak for 3 or 4 tries, wait a minute and it starts up fine. Just replaced battery 2 weeks ago, but problem just came back. Also, when turning right sharply or quickly , door locks open and close several times and interior lights flash on and off. van has 130k miles.

The Door Alarm/light is the sliding door...I put (glued) a rubber button/washer to the strike position (you will see it as you slowly close the door) to increase the travel of the actuator...problem solved.

Came to this site because I am also having the starting problem..have read that the "relay" under the hood in the relay box may be the issue.

First problem, the starter may be starting to go, the second problem is a courtesy light switch problem in one of doors, most likely the sliding door.

Had same problem with a Dodge Ram, checked all my grounds they were good still clean and retightened them to be sure put that was a waste of time, it wasn\'t the problem, I had intermittent starting problems and sometimes it would die, it would act like a dead battery, if it had problems starting it would spit and spatter as if it was off on the timing, it ended up being my PCM

I own a 2001 Dodge Grand Caravan..3 days ago it started acting up. I pulled out of a driveway and started somewhat slowly up a hill and the van shut off. I was able to start it, get it up the hill but when...

Hi tinkerbel925

Have you tried scanning it with a scan tool? If this much is going wrong there should be a check engine light on. This will tell you what is making your van do all that crazy stuff.

Intermittent starting problem.

You can remove it and have it tested at autozone under load. it sounds like the armature on the starter is heating up and shorting to ground. I am not sure if there is a starting relay in he control box. look in your manual for this

12 - battery recently disconnected. 21 - Oxygen sensor signal doesn't change (stays at 4.3 - 4.5 V) possibly bad O2 sensor 37 - Transmission temp. sensor reading low.
There are many options that can cause these problems, but loose wiring to the battery and a weak alternator would be one of the first things to check.

Need help

I would suggest to check the battery first, normally the votage should be above 12V. You can try boost from another car, if the van starts, then replace the battery.
