Question about 1995 Volkswagen Jetta
My speedometer will occasionally "quiver" at zero simultaneously with the tach gauge solidly reading zero. Usually I can shut the car off, let it set, restart it and then they will operate normally
My speedo stopped working all together but the tach worked. I used another soulution and took out the guage cluster and resoldered a capacitor that was loose. The speedo now comes on every once in a while now but still barely works. There is a plastic gear on top of the transmission that I will check out now.

Need to replace the bearing on the passenger side front end assembly. Was told that I needed to have it pressed in by a machine. Can I do this myself with wood and a rubber mallet?

Sounds like a problem in the cluster. These years of VW the clusters could be repared but by someone who knows what they are doing seeing it's printed boards.
