You are correct, it is a common problem. 2 ways to fix from underneath, locate the drain hose, passenger side, where firewall of engine compartment and passenger area meet. You probably have noticed a wet area underneath in the hot weather when a/c is on. u can run a wire up the hose to dislodge any goop, better yet would be to use a wet/dry shop vac and **** the goop out. Clamp your hand around the vac hose to seal off as best as u can. You can also usually access it from inside. low on firewall above passenger foot area, under carpet. If u have any trouble after cleaning it out, u must look for a small kink or bend in the tube that prevents drainage. Let me know how it goes. Good Luck!

We purchased car used, 106K miles. There is an interior, musty odor when blower is on.

Clean vent passages with febreez or something similar by cleaning out cowl beneath vents in front of windscreen (requires some disassembly) and any other vent areas you can get to. Later models have a cabin air filter which can be replaced, but not sure if yours does. Ask at parts store.

Dead field mouse or cat? Usually caused by build of smoking and other odors that stick to the condensation created by the a/c and eventually becomes kind of a permanent smell in the vents.

2000 dodge durango windows steaming up why

If it does it after the engine has had time to heat up I would say you have a problem with the cooling system. Check for leaks, do you get heat inside the car without the engine overheating? If so your heater core could be failing. If you have never flushed your radiator I would say it is about time. 10 years is a long time without a flush if you haven't done it.

Bad odor from the a/c duck appears once in awhile evrytime I started the car and drive. I already have it check by Honda Service centers and they have cleaned the a/c, air duck and vents, fan, blower...

weve had sum strange issues where a small rodent had crawled up inside the dash and died inside the vehicle, but if its just a musty odor you may wanna try a deodorizing spray that you spray inside the vents, some rare issues where the odors were very bad we had to remove the dash and take out the heater box and clean out the entire unit

There is a musty odor when I turn on the A/C on my 2008 Toyota Highlander. How do I eliminate it?

Best would be to clean the evaporator housing, it could dusty thus the water from condesation doesn't all pour out of it some remain and never dries up thus the odor.
Hope this helps!

Dirt blowing out vents and has a bad (musty) odor

If you live in a dusty area it is a good idea to use the recirc button on your a/c control head. This will keep the dust to a minimum.
To get rid of the smell you can take a bottle of air freshener and spray it in the heater box air intake that is located just below the windshield on the right hand side of the van. Do this with the a/c on and blowers on high.
If you use recirc as much as possible the dust should slowly work it way out of the system.
If these fixes don't help the dash will have to be removed and a/c evaporator will have to be cleaned or replaced.

Car has a skunk like smell and AC question

Listen isn't a skunk! My elantra smells like a skunk too and I am sure I didn't hit one. I think that it might be my battery; since battery acid and skunk smell are chemically the same. This is what I am checking next.
