Question about Nissan Pulsar

1 Answer

My Nissan Pulsar 2001 model, today did something unusual. Whilst driving, headlights on, in the rain, my dashboard power cut out. My headlights and brake lights still worked, but the dashboard light as well as the odometer, speedometer, fuel gauge, temp gauge, and rev counter all ceased to function...which was a rather significant problem. It came back on about 15mins after, so i assume it's a contact problem, but am a bit stumped what to do about it. Any suggestions?

thanks. Did that. No traces of corrosion, and all fuses are in tact. Funnily, now all the dials are working again. I reckon there;s a leak around the windscreen somewhere getting in behind my dashboard and making a contact(or rather contacts) fail. Thanks for the input.

I have same problem with 2001 Xterra...everything on dashboard dies and occasionally gas pedal also dies. I have to put in neutral, gun it, and then it usually kicks back in.

You said it was raining? It pays to have a look at the fuse box near the battery and check the fuses and connections for any trace of oxidation. I will suggest to have a chat to your local electrician.
Cheers.

Nissan NP200 started jerking whilst driving and cutting out completely and not wanting to start. If you wait a while, it starts as normal, but does the same thing a few kms later.

#1 if your engine light is on, you need to go to autozone and have it scanned. if you get code po420 or po430, your cat. converter is bad. If this is the code also should change spark plugs. Misfire causes cat. converter to melt inside.

A light on the dashboard ((!)) is showing, what does it mean?

That is your brake warning light. Check your brake fluid level, if it's low it could cause the light to go on. Fill to proper level, check to see if level drops again, if it does, check for leaks under the car.

It does sound like a gear box issue. 1st and reverse do share some hardware inside. Have a good transmission repair person take a listen to it if you can.

My 93 Maxima cut out while driving on the

Might be a timing issue. Have your timing chain/belt checked. If not that, definitely a fuel issue.
