Question about 2000 Hyundai Accent

Hyundai accent high revving during gear change

When lifting the throttle to change gear (manual transmission) the engine over-revs for about five seconds before dropping to allow smooth gearchange. Less of a problem when the engine is cold.

Do you mean the idle control valve? There's also a similar problem here http://www.fixya.com/cars/t596437-2001_e... according to solution #11 it's normal. Do you think that's right?

I had the dealer change both the idle control valve and the TPS but made no difference. After several attempts the Hyundai agent admitted it probably wasn't fixable, although changing the EMS might help (it might have a later version of software for example), but there would be no gaurantee. In the end I took it back to the dealer I bought it from and swapped it out for a Getz - which is an excellent car with no similar problems and does almost 600k's in the city on a 40 litre fill up. Highly recommended.

You may have a problem with the idle sensor located near the fuel injection system.

Revs high when i change gear

Is it possible the clutch pedal is interfering with the throttle? Start the engine in neutral and allow it to idle. Press only the clutch pedal down and see if this increase the engine speed. If it does speed up the engine and slows back down when you release the clutch then somehow this operation is where your fault lies. If it doesn't alter the idle speed, then rev your engine and release the throttle to see if it returns to idle immediately. If it is slow to return to idle then your throttle cable could be sticking. This means when you change gear lifting off the throttle has little effect and depressing the clutch to change gear causes the engine to race as the throttle is still partially open.

2008 hyundai accent clutch slipping, i think?

seems a bit early for clutch. how many k's? I would start by checking the intake tube for splits & security & airflow sensor. they will cause the engine to rev but no response (like a slipping clutch) so its manual right?

My 2002 Hyundai Accent has about 65,0000 miles and has three issues that I'm hoping are all caused from the same thing. It started "bucking" a few weeks ago and this was first sign of issue....

There's a good chance the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) has gone bad. Have an electrician bench test it for bad spots (in the potentiometer). You may also have carbon/soot buildup on the throttle body thottle plate causing it to stick. Standard throttle/choke plate cleaner will take care of the throttle plate.

2002 hyundai accent codes p1529 and p0734

P1529 means nothing more than the TCM (transmission control module) has requested that the ECM (engine control module) turn on the check engine lamp.
P0734 basically indicates that your transmission is slipping.
You need to take this car to an authorized repair center for hyundai cars. Replacing the filter and fluid on the transmission might save this transmission but I would be willing to bet that a total transmission rebuild is in order.

Good Luck
