Yes, inside the trunk by the gas door you will see a little cable with a plastic handle on it, it is there so look carefully, pull it, the door will release.

SOURCE: gas cap door will not open when release latch is

There is a cable between the lever and the door release mechanism. Either that cable has come loose or is broken, you can gently open the door with a small screw driver by pushing on the release mechanism.

SOURCE: Gas cap cover is closed

If your window is rolled down it won't open. Did you try making sure the window was all the way closed? ------ Also there is "thingy" in the lower track that can be pushed with a long pointed tool that allows the door to open. This helps until you open then close the fuel door again. ---------- Also check the latch that hold the door on the rail. It is a L shape latch. The cushion on the latch gets worn off therefore the door does not open completely. ------------- The sliding manual door will only open a few inches, because it thinks the gas cap door is open-a safety feature.-------- There is a button inside the gas cap area , you can open the door by manually pushing the little black "release" button on the inside of the gas cap door a few times.-------The gas cap push this button down, but may be gas cap is not giving enough pressure to the button, so its not getting properly closed and sliding door is not getting properly open.-------- Geting this possibilities checked, will help.Thanks.,Helpmech.

My Honda Accord latch is broken. I can not open the gas tank door and the trunk won't close. It has to be a problem in the latch because it controls both gas tank door and trunk door

emergency release should be in the trunk as for the closing of the trunk, you need to disconnect the cable at the trunk latch until you can get it fixed

Outside gas door will not release from inside

Gas cover has a pressure clip that fits inside on the gas door latch. When you pull on the cable in the cabin a little arm withdraws and the pressure clip causes the gas door to spring open. If the clip is missing, the arm withdraws but there is no spring to pop the gas door open. Replace the pressure clip.

I opened my gas cap and now it just wont close

The gas cap or the gas cover?

If the cap wont go back on then I don't know whats going on there.

If you mean the COVER or fuel door, then I would say your cable release is gummed up and sticking. Get some WD and spray the latching point on the car and then push the door in and let it spring back a couple times..spray again and repeat.....do this until the door stays shut. Then the next time you are getting an oil change get the station mechanic to spray the latch with some white lithium or other approved lubricant.

good luck and be careful.

Gas cap door will not open when release latch is

You might try having a friend bump the gas cover with the heel of their hand while you **** briskly on the release. Have done this a couple of times and once opened, you can use a little lubricant on the exposed parts. Sometimes that is enough.

Can,t open gas tank latch

The cable hooks up to the latch under your left foot and goes back to the latch on the gas fill door. I believe you can take the trim loose from the trunk to see what the cable is doing. May have snapped or something on the latch near the fuel door broke. You should be able to manually open the door.

Emergency latch for gas cap 2000 VW Beetle, where is it?

From the manual:
  • Open the rear lid.
  • Open the cover on the backside of the luggage compartment. To open the cover, turn the two "quick-releases" and fold the cover down.
  • Reach through the opening by the fuel filler flap. Grab the cable with th plastic covering and pull down. The filler flap will open by itself.
Best of luck!

1999 Volvo S80 gas cap cover won't open when I unlock car!

Most likely the fuel door latch motor has failed. Pull down the trunk liner panel for that side by turning the knob next to the rear seat fold down 45 degrees. That will allow the panel to be pulled down. the latch is the small black box against the car body. It should have a manual release to get it open. Once open take out the two T25 torx screws and the motor will come out. Pay attention to how the manual release is routed and reassemble in reverse order.

hope this helps
