Question about 1991 Buick LeSabre

1 Answer

A little transmision hesatation.

When im driving, when i need to speed up to pass somone my trans mission hesatates. i hit the gas one, two, three seconds later my Buick will take off strong.
Could this be the throtle position sensor or maybe the cables that go from the throtle body to the tranny need adjusted?
I dont think the transmision is slipping buy im not for sure.

Also, i would like to build it up a little. A rebuilt engine with duel 2 1/2 inch exaust pipes. rebuild transmission. and a turbo charger, if it will fit.
I want to keep it looking stock, i just want the mechanics of the car to be "hoped-up'' a little. but not enough to affect my gas milage!
Do you know where i could find out if a trubo can be installed with the engine computer? and is it possible to run dule exaust?
i think id probably have to install another cat. converter.
thanks

Bear in mind that for the transmission to work properly, the engine needs to be running at optimum specs. If the engine is even just a tiny bit off these, the transmission will not respond properly. For instance, a partially clogged air filter will cause these symptoms.A project such as what you're wanting to do with modifying your car Will set you back about 3000 dollars and Will affect your gas mileage, to the point that it is economically not feasible..accordianman

After my truck warms up it has a dead spot in my pedal what causes this ?

My best guess with out you pulling the codes would be that you either have a vacuum leak, your EGR valve is malfunctioning or your TPS may be sending a weak signal. Hope this points you in the right direction.

1991 lesabra hesatates while driving after it warms up

It is most likely the catalytic convertor stopped up. Have a auto shop verify.

Started car and the diplsy showed 0 mph when driving, felt a hesation when pressing on gas pedle

check the vehicle speed sensor, that would explain the hesitation also cause the ecm is not reading car movement

Hesatating....

first of all the early 95's were OBD1 so if your jeep was made before june of 95 IIRC you will have an OBD1 diagnostic system, and it is different then the OBD2 plug the guy was looking for. It could be a bad MAF sensor, a plugged cat, a bad injector, a timing issue. You need to go to the right place to get it checked out. Phone around to the shops and see what they charge to run a diagnostic on your jeep. A good place will usually run it for free, or cheap. They will also give you competitve prices on the repair needed. Also they should let you know if they find anything else wrong, and ask before repairing it. Phone the BBB for a list of reputible shops in your area.
