Question about 2004 Ford Explorer
There's no dipstick to check fluid, I just recently found out after mine acted similarly. If its acting that bad I would go to AAMCO & get fluid changed & filter. It takes a pump to fill fluid that most don't have at home. It cost me $140.

Sounds like its low on transmission fluid but i could be wrong as it could be a front clutch worn out but check the oil level first
