Question about 1998 Lincoln Continental
Remote door locks intermittent using both fobs.
All of the locks don't function at times or just one door? If it is just one door the lock actuator is likely defective or the wiring harness to the door has a broken wire inside the wire insulator that runs through the rubber convoluted tube from the body to the door.

Reinstall your own code,if the preset works and you still have the little instruction card. If not let me know,I'll look at mine and go over the service manuals

SOURCE: doors wont lock
It sounds like the key cylinder, in the door, has become frozen. You can try putting some powered graphite or penetrating oil into the key hole and work it free. Or take the door panel off and replace it.
If you decide to replace parts then do yourself a favor and remove the panel first. Inspect all related parts and make sure it is the key cylinder and not the door latch or something else.
