You either have to get you a lube job or your upper and lower ball joints are fixing to take a dump. and this noise you talk about when you go over bumps is most likely your upper control arm bushings. all Fords SUV & pickups are notorious for this noise.

New shocks and or struts

ball joints usaully dont squeak when they go bad but you could also grease the entire front end at the grease points

Squeeking in front end when turning or going over bumps on 1999 ford explorer what would cause that? besides ball joints.

Ok I have seen a-frame bushings upper and lower make noise, But most likely its shocks if you have had your ball joints checked.

Squeeks from front end, 1999 explorer sport

you did not indicated when the squeek occurs. If you turn the steering wheel and there is a dry squeek look at the tie rod ends. If you bounce the truck and the squeek is heard look at the stabilizer bar bushings {most common cause } If this is the cause, lubing them is a temporary fix they should be replaced.

4x4 won't turn off

Hi my name is tommy. The problem you are having may not be a horrible one. Some models of the explorer are all-wheel-drive not 4-wheel drive. If you do not have a switch in plain sight that says 2hi 4lo 4hi on it,then chances are your suv is all wheel drive. These models of explorer are always engaged in 4-wheel drive and do not have a 2 wheel drive option.(simular to a subaru or a mitsubishi lancer evo)Hope this helps.Have a good day.
