SOURCE: Transmission problems with a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado 4X4.

Fastboyz is on track with his answer.there are quite a few updates on your transmission for shift concerns. this is done with a tech2 scanner and reprograms computer. also if you have installed larger tires this will need to be updated. can cause problem also.Just because there is no trouble code does not mean it is not a computer related problem. have it checked for updates

SOURCE: 2004 Chevrolet Aveo Brake lights not working

A couple of days ago my brake lights on my 2004 Chevy Aveo wouldn't work, so I attempted to remove the lamp covers to check the bulbs. Also, before this my shifter would get stuck in park and could only be released by pressing the unlock gadget next to the shifter. Back to the brakes...Well, you open the trunk and remove the two screws just like the manual said, but it was very hard to pull off. There's 2 prongs holding the other half of the light on. The lamp will come loose by prying it (very hard). You think the cover will break, but it'll come loose. The bulbs were all OK.

After much frustration and internet info, the STOP LAMP SWITCH, GM#96436331 ($9.30 at Chevy dealer), which is located under the dash and has contact with the brake pedal, was defective. Once replaced, both my brake lights AND SHIFTING problems were cured. So if the brake lights suddenly don't work or you have problems getting the vehicle out of park, check the switch by pushing the prong (end that has contact with brake) of the switch in and out. If it doesn't retract smoothly...that's the PROBLEM. Good Luck.

Time for a rebuild or replace. The 2nd/3rd clutches are usually the first to go.

Sounds like a broken transmission or motor mount and is putting shift cable in a bind.

I have a 2004 Chevy Trailblazer and when it gets in high gear it keeps shifting down like it is locking or something. We have had it in shop for 5 weeks and thermostat and coolent sensor have been re

I am afraid you have mis-diagnosed it NOT being the Transmission or I should say Torque Converter, TCC Solenoid. I would strongly recommend that you replace the TCC Solenoid in the 4L60E Transmission. Then see what happens. If you drive it with the TORQUE CONVERTER Button in the OFF Position on the Shifter, does it fix the problem?

02 trailblazer lost 3rd gear

YOUR PROBLEM STATES CLEARLY YOUR MECHANICAL ISSUE. YOU REALLY WILL HAVE TO GET A DIAGNOSIS FROM A TRANSMISSION SHOP. THERE ARE SO MANY VARIABLES IN THIS SITUATION. I WOULD PROBABLY GUESS A TRANSMISSION SHIFT SOLENOID FAILURE. THESE SEEM TO CAUSE THE MAJORITY OF THESE PROBLEMS. UNLESS YOU ARE AN ACCOMPLISHED TRANSMISSION PERSON I WOULDN'T SUGGEST YOU TRY TO REPAIR. YOU COULD WIND UP PURCHASING PART AFTER PART WITH NO SOLUTION. THESE SHIFT SOLENOIDS CAN BE VERY PRICEY.

Transmision will not shift to 3rd or od fluid is ok

Probably an internal transmission problem, most likely a stuck or defective solenoid.

While driving home in my 2004 Trailblazer it stopped driving while it was in Drive. I would press the gas and the engine would just revved.

MANY THINGS WILL CAUSE NO DRIVE PROBLEMS.IF TRANSMISSION FLUID LEVEL CORRECT LEVEL AND TRANSMISSION FILTER BEEN CHANGED.SINCE TRANSMISSION PCM CONTROLLED SCAN FOR FOR TRANSMISSION FLUID PRESSURE SWITCH CODE.OR TRANSMISSION PRESSURE CONTROL SOLENOID FAULT CODE.LOOK FOR SHIFT SOLENOIDS FAULT CODES.LOOK FOR TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE FAULT CODE AND TRANSMISSION RANGE SWITCH FAULT CODE.IF NO CODES COME UP.YOU HAVE TRANSMISSION INTERNAL MECHANICAL FAILURE LIKE FORWARD CLUTCH AND INPUT CLUTCH HAS WORN DRIVE PLATES AND LEAKING PISTON SEALS.FAULTY TRANSMISSION OIL PUMP.HAVE TRANSMISSION PRESSURE TESTED.
