Hi from uk if you are meaning the actual wheel securing studs? that wheels fit onto > then if memory serves ? the brake disc/rotor is bolted to hub from the rear so necessitates the removal of hubdisc/rotor assy then on work bench? remove the bolts securing rotor to the hub then studscan/should knock out ? as on uk not sure if same on yours?

How to replace a broken stud on 99 pontiac sunfire

hub studs are just a press in fit . the replacement can usually be done with out the hub removal. remove the drum /disc rotor
using a hammer and punch drive the broken stud out. place new stud in position and pull in to place using nut and spacers to get it home .
if you can remove the hub and drive the broken stud out . fit new stud and place the hub over something like a piece of pipe /socket the new stud in the pipe or socket) that is on something solid and hammer the new stud home.

Can't find the ECU location

Different make and model of cars have different location for it ECU however i most case the ECU is located in the passenger area or engine bay. If it is in the passenger area, most likely it is behind the radio in the center console or behind the glove box.

I am replacing my front brakes and rotors on my 99 dodgeram 3500 v10 4x4 gas i cannot gat the old rotor off

Hi:) You can heat them up with a small bottle torch to get the rust to break free around the center and the studs but just on the rotors not anything else. Then let it cool and hit it with a heavy hammer don't worry about damaging to rotor because you are replacing anyways.

How do you replace the front rotors on a 1996 honda accord?

Remove wheel. Take off outer driveshaft nut. Remove lower ball joint pinch bolt & separate ball joint from spindle. Pull rotor & spindle out & away to pull driveshaft outer splined end out of rotor center hub. Look on the back of the spindle for the 4 bolts that hold in the wheel bearing. Use a 12 point socket to remove the 4 bolts and remove wheel bearing from spindle (out towards the wheel stud side). Probably will have to use a air chisel to get it out. Once it's out undo the 4 bolts on the outer (wheel stud side) of the rotor and remove the rotor from the hub. Clean & lube the hole where the bearing was in the spindle & the inner face of the hub. MAKE SURE IT'S CLEAN otherwise you may get a pulsation on braking if theres a piece of rust or dirt between the rotor center & the hub face. Reverse procedure to install.

If the rear bolts don't come out then you will have to use a slide hammer to separate the bearing to replace the rotor and there is a very good chance you will need to replace the wheel bearing after you're done (noisy on road test).

Not the job to do at home, usually an easy 2-3 hours per side if things go bad (book time is 2.2 hrs per side). Use good quality rotors as you don't want to have to do it again because a cheap rotor gave you a pulsation.

1997 Honda Accord, front drivers side wheel assembly. Stud that holds wheel on is broken. I am looking for advice on how to replace this assembly and what parts I will need for this task.

1. first take the wheel off so you can see the the caliper and the rotor. make sure the car is on stands and not just waving around on a jack.
2. look behind the caliper and use your finger to locate, a pair of bolts behind the caliper... they will be holding the caliper into place on the surface of the rotor, by a simple look and feel you can see these, they should take a 17mm socket undo them and remove the bolts. at this stage you should see the the caliper become loose.
3. remove the caliper by pulling it up and away from the rotor
4. now you can see the rotor remove this it will simply slide away.
5. this will leave the hub exposed and the studs.. you will see that they are wedged into the hub
6. remove the stud/s by hitting them / it with a hammer be careful to not damage the other studs if you just replacing one.
7. there is one spot where the will be a gap and you will be able to get the stud in behind the hub and have a little bit of room, rotate the hub to there, make sure the car is out of gear or this will be very difficult :)
8 once the stud is in take something you can use as a spacer like a larger then the stud nut. for example and then put one of the wheel nuts on and tighten slightly
9. use a hammer and drive the back of the stud home, and slowly tighten the wheel nut as you go.
10. once this is done your finished put all the bits back together in the opposite order and replace the wheel.

Good luck and wear ear plug and a 5 pound sledge hammer works best for this job.

Having trouble with the removal fo the front rotor

soak around the hub and wheel studs with penetrating oil use a large hammer and a round punch work around the center of the rotor between the wheel studs until it pops free you can subtitute hammer and punch for an air chisel and round hammer head bit if available. don't hit the face of the rotor if your trying to save it.

Checking to see if there is anything tricky about removing the rear rotors on an '05 Tucson and to see if the studs come with a new rotor if it is needed.

Nothing tricky, if you've ever changed a rotor before. One thing the Hyundai has is a single phillips head screw that holds the rotor to the hub. You have to remove that and then with some persuasion the rotor will come off of the hub just like most other rotors. The studs, however, stay with the hub and according to Hyundai you cannot remove the studs from the hub. Therefore, if you need to replace a stud, you will need to eat the cost of a new hub. That, again according to Hyundai, the hub (no labor) will run around $345 as of July 2008. Shop around, I'm sure you can find them cheaper than that. Good luck and be VERY careful about who rotates your tires or has anything to do with taking the lug nuts on or off. It's a very expensive fix if you need to go there.
