It could mean you have a bad synchro ring or the shift linkage is bad.

what is the synchro n where is it located n u thing the shift linkage would make the engin jump around like 5 inches

  • silver Feb 25, 2012

George is it an automatic transmission or a manual transmission, because if it is a manual then you will find the synchro ring inside the transmission, the synchro is attached by forks that are on the shift linkage which allow you to shift into the different gears. The synchro is basically what holds the gear. If it is an automatic transmission then this is a whole different story as a automatic doesnt have a synchro and the problem could be a bad solenoid pack or what davsm suggested.

SOURCE: 1996 dodge intrepid 3.3 transmission wont shiftout of first gear

two issues here. this may be a low fluid issue. i would check the level of the fluid first. the next issue could be a blown shift solenoid. these are located inside of the transmission pan.also, check the filter as well.(transmission filter could be clogged)

SOURCE: My 2004 dodge intrepid is overheating how to git

Remove the top hose, unbolt the thermostat housing, remove old themostat and install new unit with new gasket. Replace top hose and fill with coolant. Be sure to re-check the coolant level after start up, beore you drive it anywhere, to eliminate any air pockets in the coolant.

Is your check engine light on? There are many reasons for this. Bad EGR valve, bad PCV valve, sheesh. Vaccumm leak, bad motor mounts ... gosh.

The gear gets stuck in 2nd gear

it is probably the pcm getting too hot and putting itself in limp home mode, faulty shift solenoids in the transmission will act the same way

Can i replace a 24 valve 2.7L eng. with a 12 valve 2.7L engine??

Without completely rewiring the car !!!!

I doubt it

That might be a good question to Google
& see if anyone has ever done it

Why not just get a reman motor & send yours back
for the core charge?

If you just lost the top end-- strip it back & fix the heads
or whatever

Why does my 2004 Trailblazer run rough at stops and AC is on? Doesn't stall and temp. is fine. Also idle gage seems fine. It also sputters when shutting engine off. Just had the motor mounts...

ONe of the "easy" fixes is buy a can of throttle body cleaner. Remove the air intake near throttle boddy and clean the inside of throttle body as best you can this should help it. If it doesnt have it checked out it could be more advanced problem. Good Luck.

Runs rough under load. Changed wires and coil pack, could it be MAS or motor mounts? or other.

Motor mounts would be mostly from low speed to high, as you accelerate, and there is the most reverse torque on the enging. At steady high speed you won't notice bad motor mounts much.

Fuel filter or pump comes to mind first, because you need the most fuel under load.

There are also a number of valves that could be causing loss of intake vacuum as well, such as EGR, purge valve, PCV valve.

Make sure spark is good and plugs good. A smaller gap will perform better, and only hurt mileage.

You can try cleaning the MAS sensor, and take a look at the oxygen sensor. These can be checked with an ohmmeter, but I don't have the actual values. But if you get 0 or infinite resistence, there is probably a problem.

Rough running often means it is isolated to one cylinder. Try removing one plugwire at a time to see if one makes no difference. Then try switching plugs to see if problem moves with plug.
