car bogs down almost to the point of killing the engine when I start in first
gear from a dead stop. It tends to be more severe when I have been running the
car on the highway for awhile and then hit a stop light/ stop sign in town. I
just thought my car was getting old and I had to be easy on engine when
starting from a stop. However, my battery was 5 years old and I just replaced
it last week. All of a sudden my car wasn’t bogging down at all and it had some
power off the line that I hadn’t experienced in awhile, but about two days
later it went back to the problems in first gear. I am maybe thinking the
alternator isn’t giving the battery a full charge since it wasn’t acting up for
a couple days when the battery was new. I don’t know for sure, but if someone
knows of some possible solutions I would appreciate it. Thanks.
If the idling of your engine only dies off at first gear, you may have a clutch problem. check first if you have fluid in your clutch fluid reservoir, or if its cable make sure that the cable is pulling the clutch lever for a reasonably long travel. there may be leaks in your clutch master or slave cylinders. If your engine behaves well during neutral. it has to be a clutch problem

Ignition timing may be too advanced or ******
Check ignition timing first.
Check for rated idle speed
Check engine compression pressure
