SOURCE: cigarette lighter doesn't work
First look inside the lighter socket and see if you have some money or something in there. Then check your fuse. Luckily the lighter is a easey fix. If its niether of these things. check the wires going to it.

SOURCE: cigarette lightter not working
Thank you for choosing fixya.com
Cigerrette lighters are usually an easy fix. If you look under the dish on the driver side, on the door side, you should find a fuse box. Take the cover off, and flip it around. The inside should have a diagram of the fuse panel, which will allow you to locate the lighter fuse. Sometimes the ligher is fused with another component. If it is fused alone, or with another look for the abbreviations ltr, or lit. In newere vechicles, they are known as an "accessory power source" and often do not come with lighters in them. Either way, locate the fuse if possible. If you cannot find any abbreviations that would resemble the lighter fuse, the quickest way to find a blown fuse, is to look at them all. There may be quite a few, but you never know, you may come across another one blown, saving more hassle, time and money in the future. You can also, under the hood (if equipped) look in the fuse/relay box. This should be located on the driver side behind the battery; it's usually long black box. Pull the cover off and look at the inside of the cover, this will also have a diagram of the fuses and relays.
If you are still not able to locate the fuse for the lighter, (which should be under the dash in the fuse box); find the owners manual, or better still, get a CHILTONS or Haynes service manual for your vehicle.
I hope these instruction and information help you find the fuse, and get your lighter working. In the even the fuse is found and good, or replaced if/when needed, and the lighter still does not work, it's possible that you need a new unit. If so, (they should be fairly cheap), purchase one if desired, and replace.
If you need help replacing, let me know and I can walk you through it. This is also a fairly simple task.
Please, let me know if I can be of any further assistance, and thank you again for choosing fixya.com

SOURCE: 1995 Saturn SL2 fuse box
The 1997 SL2 has a fuse for the cigarette lighter in a panel that is next to where the left foot of a passenger would be. The panel just pops off - held on by velcro.
