Question about 2000 Pontiac Sunfire
I have a standard 2000 Sunfire GT. It has been parked for 2 weeks while it was getting painted. Before it got parked, it was working fine. I started it once a couple months back and it had a bit of a shake, but after it warmed up the shake went away. We have replaced all 4 spark plugs and checked the cat, and it is still shaking. The shake is obvious when it initially starts up, when accelerating and idling. You can hear the shake outside of the vehicle. If you leave it in first gear, and rev it up, you can not hear the shake while the revs fall back down. Please help!!!!
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

when you overheat an engine. certain parts expand more than usual. like pistons, crankshaft and camshaft bearings. im afraid its time to overhaul the engine. inspect for cracks etc...
check the oil on the dipstick...if it looks like a milkshake...you cracked something...head or block......sorry dude for the bad news. good luck

Check fluid level and see if it smells burned. If you do not work on it yourself, have a good reliable trans shop check it out. Usually the repair shop you use can recommend which trans shops do good work.

SOURCE: 94 grand am Head Gasket?
Check ur spark plugs for wetness, if u have water in ur cylinders, you have a gasket problem. 94-95 grand am had a problem with intake gaskets, but my grand am also had a manufacture error on the head gasket too. The dragged the heads over it putting the heads back on and smashed the rings..

hello there my friend, these cars have a lot of problems with the coil pack, its the complete cover above the cams/valve covers, these area is very hot and these coil pack is from a plstic material so it often cracks and spark starts to escape all over from the inside part so it fails to fire the cylinders and stalls or hesitates, these condition gets worse under load, most times you can hear the spark jumping to a close ground or visualy inspect the coil pack for cracks or burnt traces replace it if you see these symptoms, good luck

I really need much more information about what has been done or not done to the car but I will go with what you have said.
1. I assume the wheel alignment has been done and is fine and I also assume that the front suspension and steering components are all in acceptable condition.
2. Have the front wheels re-balanced at a competent shop (and at the same time check for any distortion or damage to the front wheel rims). Many vibration problems that kick in in the front end at a specific speed are often due to poor balancing or a tyre/wheel combination that is impossible to balance properly because of defects in the product.
3. If the problem is unchanged have the wheel bearings checked and replaced especially if you have no record of when this was done previously. This is a 2002 car and has presumably done around 80000 miles or more.
4. If you have a cheap brand of tire on the vehicle there could be a heavy spot in the tire which could make it impossible to properly balance.
If you have just replaced the tires and did not have the vibration problem with the old tires then I would suspect the new tires are the problem if everything else is OK.
Buying lower priced tires is never a good move as poor build quality is just one of many problems with such products. Ultimately it is just wasted money.
Also bear in mind that a badly built (but undamaged) alloy wheel will also be impossible to balance properly and these sometimes slip through quality control.
