SOURCE: Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited P0700 diagnostic problem

P0700 means there is a transmission fault code in the transmission controller. Since the transmission controller doesn't have a light attached, it tells the engine controller to turn the light on using this code. You'll have to access the transmission controller to further diagnose the problem.

Lifters

Lifter noise is an indication of low oil pressure, that can be from low oil level and other things like a defective oil pump or plugged oil passages or excessive engine main and rod bearing clearances. Please have the oil pressure checked with a special tool, DO NOT DRIVE THIS WITH LOW OIL PRESSURE.

1996 jeep grand cherokee oil pressure gauge flutters car wont run

If the oil pressure is not above 5 or 10psi, the fuel pump will not get power. The engine should start and die.
The pressure sending unit may be faulty, or the engine oil pressure may be very low.

2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I get low oil pressure alarm when I am in idle or stopped. I can press the gas and it will come back up.

change the oil with a higher weight oil. I use penzoil 20w50. put a half pint on STP oil treatment in when you change it. Thats the cheapest way to check if you have a problem. it it still does that change the oil pressure sensor/switch. if it still does it you have an expensive problem. the oil pump may be bad or your engine has low compression

How do you change the oil pump in a 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited/Loredo 8cylander 4.7. ? We can't seem to find any diagrams that point us in the right direction. Thanks in advance for your gracious...

You can generally find the info you are looking for in most inexpensive manuals such as chilton or haynes, available at most larger parts stores. Be aware though that most low oil pressure conditions are not caused by the pump, but by worn main or rod bearings that allow pressure bleed off.
Sometimes it's caused by hard carbon residue stuck to the pump pickup. Either way, you need to remove the engine oil pan to check those things. When checking bearings, always re-torque them to proper specs or you will induce a failure even if there was no problem there..

Has a noise in front end also wont shift into low, second or overdrive.

SOUND PROBLEM IN TRANSMISSION OIL PUMP OR TRANSMISSION TORQUE CONVERTER.SINCE YOU NEED BOTH OF THEM EITHER ONE MALFUNCTION THERE WILL BE NO LOW DRIVE GEAR OR OVER DRIVE.MAKE SURE TRANSMISSION FLUID LEVEL NOT LOW. IF ALL LOOKS GOOD. YOU CAN CHANGE TRANSMISSION FLUID AND CHANGE FILTER FIRST TO SEE IF HELPS ANY. IF NOT TAKE TRANSMISSION TO SHOP.THEY NEED TO RUN OIL PUMP PRESSURE TEST TO SEE IF OIL PUMP BAD.

My 2002 jeep grand cherokee limited is reading low oil pressure but wen i accelerate it goes to middle pressure but then down to low wen i stop wat can be the problem?

Oil pump or other issues
Cam bearings,etc
Bad sending unit

I would put a mechanical oil pressure gauge on it,to verify oil pressure.

Certainly stop driving it ,until you find and repair
