There is probably a strainer type filter in tank, like every other unit I've seen, but I can't believe you don't have one between tank & engine. Take a look along the frame rails under the truck. If you follow the path of the fuel lines from the tank, my guess is you'll find one attached to frame. Most of the cars I've worked on lately are usually just ahead of the passenger side rear wheel, bolted to frame.

Check the charging system. Charge battery until fully charged. Check battery voltage when engine is runnig. Volts should be 13.5-14.5. If not the alternator is malfunctioning. Let me know if this helps. Moe

if it is a carby model you are looking at a rebuild kit, the problem is the needle and seat in the carby, i would install a needle and seat (complete carby kit if you have the time and the money) then to guarantee the job done i would install electric fuel pump if it does not alreaddy have one, this should fix the problem, hope i have helped

just ashot in the dark while under the hood rev youre throttle up ,at the same time watch youre damper if it skips or rolls back it needs replaced .it controls your timing . this part can be recked by over reving to much strain put on your engine and doesnt go qiuckly it slowly gets worse and so long as you dont fix it you timing is allover no matter what untill its repairedalso further abuse and it can steretch your timing chain.your 318 1990-93 throttle body injected engine only has 144 horses and 288pnds of torque its pulling rating is based on its incredeble suspension system . and lets asume the person who told you about the throttle position sensor is not the same thing as your air idle control acrtuator wich is attached to your throttle cable which you should never mess with but if it is all loose and sloppy replace it set the screw so youre vehicle rpms are between 2500rpms -2900rpms the sounds of your truck its been abused before you had it.this part has to be analogicly installed buy adodge repair book by haynes and you can save over 1000.00 on this repair alone its very detailed.good luck
