You have a defective Rack and Pinion steering gear would be the mist common cause. This holds true if it is harder to turn in one direction's than the other, if it is hard in both left and right then you may have pump pressure problems as well.

Bird like chirpping noise from front right behind firewall when start car an begin backing. While noise is occurring the stering is difficult as if no power stering. What is the possible cause

Check your power steering fluid level. It is probably low. Add power steering fluid only. And do not over fill it.More is not better.

I have a 2006 f350 and when you hit a real spot in the rd it about tears steering wheel out of your hand. 60-70mph is the worst. I've checked the front end and all seems tight. any suggestions? Tristan

the f 350 should have a steering stabilizer on the cross tie rod. it looks like a shock absorber bolted to the rod. They do fail and that what happens when they fail. hit a hole and no control.

Freeplay on stering wheel

Too much play in the wheel?? Steering gear, or rack and pinion failure, or starting to fail. Have a visual check done by a mechanic. Hope this is helpful.

I have a 2006 chevrolet malibu and the power steering keeps going on and off. this could be very dangerous

Is the power steering belt making any noise, skreeching etc?

Check your fluid level for the power steering, it could be low or even leaking as it sounds like air is getting into the system, make sure the belt is tight enough also.

Shaking Stering Wheel in a 2006 Jeep

If it shake only when the brakes are applied, then it is a brake issue/ uneven wear on the pads & discs.
There are upper and lower control arms, but if they are bolted tight, it shouldn't be the issue. If you hear clicking, check out you CV joints.
Have you rotated you tires? Patterns can wear in and cause lots of shaking.

The emission light came on as my son drove the car to the last drop of petrol, how can I turn off the light? swift 2006

If you do not have a code reader for OBDii, you need to take it to someone that can reset it for you. Make certain that your gas cap is on tightly. Then drive it and it may go off as it reads everything is ok.
Hope this helps;
