Once engine has started smoke coming out


Smoke coming from exhaust is sign of a few things wrong. Either the petrol -air mix is not correct and rich fuel mix is going in. Worse oil seal leak. This means engine oil from sump is finding its way into engine cylinders and igniting with petrol. A sign that engine could be damaged soon. This needs to be addressed quickly - piston rings may be loose also.

Without knowing vehicle make or model it is hard to suggest anything further.

Why does my 1997 transit 2ltre petrol engine idle to fast


Clean the Mass air flow sensor, the throttle body(inside it as best you can), and the idle air control motor. Brake clean works good. Just spray the MAF, and use a toothbrush on the throttle body and IAC motor. Clean the back side of the throttle plate and where they seat.

My car is using i lot off petrol why? and why is the petrol going to the engen in the oil how can that be?


it is not supposed to, they should remain separate , your petrol is just lying in your sump at this stage, check your pipes, oil is usually circulated in the engine and goes little anywhere else , your fuel goes from the tank , through the fuel filter to the carburetor or injectors , and into the pistons , the closest oil and petrol ever has to meet is the small drop of oil remaining in piston chamber before combustion ,

Petrol should be at least 150 psi and diesel should be 300 psi minimums.

2003 2.3 petrol ford transit thermo fans not working


Hi guys. Im having a huge problem finding my thermostat housing part for my 2002 2.3ltr petrol ford transit van. I was wondering if any one could post a picture of it. I am in the uk so I can pick it up before i go back to Australia. Its a nightmare to find parts there on the west coast. This is the part that Ford gave me. Remove sump


sump what sump.
are you asking an engine question?
what is wrong?, tell the story, or at least a tiny hint so we can get on the same page..
my wild guess is the engine oil pan (sump) and not tranny or other
sump like objects. or other many fluid containers all very sump like.
but the answer is in the FSM, buy one, and read how to remove anything on the car.
here state side we have alldata.com and dont need books until
we break 10 parts and then read the authortive manual.

I am gettin petrol into my sump. I have checked the injrctors and they appear to be fine where else can the petrol get into the sump?


It's possible that it could be draining past the rings, especially if your engine is high mileage. A compression test would tell you for sure. Hope this helps.

Delay in automatic transmission (at times)


2 THINGS TO TRY
1 Drain auto trans oil from g/box sump, remove g/b/sump pan and remove the filter as you might find the filter is faulty/dirty/or just no good and then either replace it or wash out in petrol and refit /refill test run.
2 Check the forward bands and pump on forward drive if bands are burnt or worn then the oil and filter will be dark red or brown and that means trouble.
