Question about 1994 Toyota Camry
I have a 1994 toyota camry le 2.2L 4 cylinder engine. I have a blown head gasket so I have removed almost everything from the head except the intake manifold. Can anyone tell me how to remove the intake manifold without having to remove the engine as the engine is placed slanted and the intake is next to the firewall which makes it hard to reach the final four bolts on the bottom.

SOURCE: Changing the Head Gaskets
hi Dirk, its easier to remove the harness, i gues your problem could lie with disconnecting the injector connections, to disconnect them there's a locking stainless-steel ring which needs to be moved halfway on one side and then the connector pulled out. and also check for a large connector that can split the harness.

it is a pretty basic job the important things to remember is to remove everything sequentially. in other words make a note of which bolts go where. remove the intake and clean both mating surfaces, usually you dont need gasket sealant for an intake manifold. reassemble in the order removed thats about it.

I'd remove the thermostat and run it. If the problem continues, it could be head gaskets, but, v6 head gaskets rarely fail. Also make sure that teh rad cap is good; have it pressure tested.
