My 2006 dodge magnum won't start after putting in a knew battery the said my computer locked

may i ask how you change the battery if you did it correctly by removing the battery negative after having the ignition on then off (10-20 seconds to remove terminal on battery ) remove the negative and the the live. there should not be a problem. if you did not do this you may have either removed the wrong lead first or put the red lead on last and this will damage the ecu. the ecu may not be locked but the immobilizer may be damaged, sometimes you can rectify it by removing the battery and leave it of for 6 hrs or longer. then installing the battery red first then the black lead. then using the fob open then close the doors and open again , then put key into ignition and turn to number 2 and press fob again to lock doors then open again. remove key and wait 10 seconds and put key back in and try to start engine. if all well it will start now.

How to take out battery to check

The battery will be held in place by a 'carrier' or retaining bar which must be first removed by undoing a couple of bolts/nuts.

You remove the battery by first disconnecting the positive lead (the red lead..) and then the earth .. the black lead.

When you replace the battery you connect the black lead FIRST.

To test the battery you need to put a voltmeter across the terminals and get a reading of 12v+ but be aware - even a failing battery can give reading of 12v. The ideal way of testing a battery is to leave it connected and check the voltage/amps when the engine is cranking.

Best option is to drive your car to an exhaust/battery shop and get them to test the battery in situ. These checks are usually free and will tell you exactly if the battery is failing/failed or not..

.. Many people change their battery and then find the problem is still there. Nothing wrong with the old battery..

Go and get it checked at a battery supplier/shop.

98 chevy lumina wont start replaced starter and VATS relay only get click no crank what next?

Hey Todd how's it going ? How's the battery ? battery connections ? Are there any lights lit on the dash , security , check engine ? Because your getting a clicking there is nothing wrong with the theft deterrent relay ! Take a volt meter on the 20 volt scale an put negative lead at the negative battery post , then take your positive lead an put it on s terminal small wire on the starter solenoid an have someone turn the key to start position , you should see battery voltage . If you see battery voltage there is nothing wrong with the theft deterrent relay ! or the crank circuit. You need to do a voltage drop test on the starting system ! I'm thinking possible battery cable ! Starter Voltage Drop . you do know that you replaced a starter for no good reason !

Battery needed a charge, it was jumped with cables hooked up wrong, bought new battery but wont start what is problem

if you connected the jumper leads up wrongly you have most likely put 24 volts into the system instead of 12 volts & damaged all of the electric components including the computer, you will need to consult an auto electrician to sort out the problem.....hope this helps.....cheers
