SOURCE: white smoke coming from exhaust when accelerating

This is usually an indication of a bad head gasket.I gasket. The white smoke is the coolant leaking out of the engine and winding up in the oil passages, due to a bad head gasket. To confirm this,
1. check oil. Is level increased, or milky appearance?
2. Is coolant level dropping, but u don't see any signs of leaks?
The above indicates a bad head gasket, causing the white smoke u describe. Let me know how u make out.

SOURCE: Blueish white smoke comeing from exhaust

Hello There

White smoke when first started is normal. If white smoke continues you have an internal coolant leak, i.e., cracked head/blown head gasket.
Black smoke is caused by a rich fuel condition.
Blue smoke is caused by oil consumption.

You need to check your oil cap for yellow/white gunk on the cap if you have this then this is a sign your head gasket is cracked. Check to see if your radiator coolant level is down this is also another sign.

Hope this helps. Please don't forget to rate me.

Many Thanks

There is either A).an oil leak or B). the smoke is from residue oil spilled on exhaust and such during the repair. Crank the engine and look everywhere for an evident oil leak if one is not found leave it run till it gets hot enough to show where the white smoke is coming from and see then if it is residue or a new leak. I have my toyota corolla 93 model big body... when you revolution it.. there is no water coming out to the exhaust.... but if you will ride it and run...there is water and a white smoke in the exhaust......

a small amount of water from tail pipe is just condensation , its normal if you are losing antifreeze from radiator through the exhaust then it may be a head gasket leak or a cracked head . as long as radiator level stays full its ok

Possible head gasket put in wrong or possible. make sure radiator cooling fan is coming on. The smoke could be remaining from the water standing in the exhaust if it is fixed it will take a while for that to burn off. Check the timing on the timing belt. change your thermostat. Have your radiator checked for flow. If it is plugged replace it. Intake could be leaking to cause the fluctuating idle. The throttle body can cause the idle to search. Also the timing off can do that.If possible do a combustion leak test in the coolant

Car is smoking on start up, a lot of white smoke

If the engine is using oil then first remove the dipstick and run the engine, check to see if heavy smoke is coming out of the tube, this would indicate worn piston rings,if it is not so dense, yet you are using oil and it smokes bad from the exhaust, then its likely the valve seals are worn. either way, unless you have mechanical knowledge, tools etc , you need to take it to a mechanic for the engine repairs or live with the oil consumption. There are no quick fixes for engine wear.

I have a 95 Corolla and it burns an excessive amount of oil.. seems to burn 1-4 quarts every gas tank fill up. I just recently bought this car for $1400 and and it was checked by a mechanic. What can I do...

i would suggest, go for a top overhaul first, maybe a worn out valse seal or open your oil cover and observe if smoke comes out or check dip stick if smoke comes out, must be a problem with your piston rings... or try a compression test to be sure. :D
