How do I remove 3.8l engine and transmission?

The procedure is fairly detailed and likely your best bet would be to get a Hayes manual to ensure you perform all steps properly. In simplistic terms, you will need to place the front of the car on jackstands, remove the hood, remove the front drive axles. Disconnect all wiring harness and accessories from the engine. You will likely want to remove the A/C compressor from the engine without disconnecting any hose connections so that you will not have to have the A/C recharged. Drain transmission and radiator before starting. Getting a manual is the best advice I can give you.

Getting to the alternator to change it

To get to the alternator you will need to remove the pass/side tire and also the fender well cover then dissconnect the neg battery terminal, next is to remove the belt, you will need to remove the nut from the lower balljoint and seperate the spindle from the lower control arm this is so the axle can be removed. next is to remove the two nuts holding the axle bearing plate to engine bracket then remove axle, then you will be able to remove the alternator bolts and the connections to remove alternator , the alternator will come the area where the axle was.

I need yo know how to replace the cv joint and

remove axle nut, seperate balljoint from control arm, usually a good whack with a hammer on the control arm near the balljoint will free it,pry control arm down to remove knuckle assy, remove roll pin from inner axle joint now you can remove axle, most of the time the inner joint boot tears this is called the d-o-j {double offset joint} replace this boot as well,my suggestion is consider replacing axle with reman depending on mileage 100k or more.remember when reinstalling axle splines need to be lined up on inner shaft so roll pin goes in without problem good luck

How to replace bearing

There is a vacum switch in the transfercase on the drivers side. you can get to it with a wrench, but it will make you work for it. Part store is like $45.00 GM like $90.00, Same part.
Rear bearing. remove the differental cover and drain fluid. Remove the C Clip that hold the Axle in. Slide the Axle out and inspect to see if you need a new one. High mile axle has a worn grove where the bearings are and changing the bearing alone does nothing. You ight get away with a finding a bearing to match your axle if it's worn.
Remove the oil seal and then the bearing from the axle tube.
In-stall in revers, note use lots of lube on the seal and be careful not to nick the seal and bearing.
Fill differental with oil and run around the block, not hard and re-check the fluid. May want to go with syntetic oil or add lucus. Less maintance of oil changes to differental.
Good luck and hope this help.

Not sure if this is the proper way to respond on this website.

Glad to provide the advice. That is what FIxYa is all about. The graciousness of a FixYa rating for my assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Same problem

The bleed valve is located on the back side of the back plate of the axle. Try bleeding the system.
