My key opened up, i tried putting it back together but then when i tired turning it on the car won't turn on.

I think the key has a special chip inside that will make the car turn on.

If the key is stuck in your ignition, try turning your steering wheel hard in both directions while twisting your key gently in both directions. The steering wheel lock may be putting back pressure on your ignition switch causing it to bind and this in-turn stops you from being able to turn your key.

If you can slide your key in and out of your ignition, then your key may be worn and the cylinder cannot be twisted by the humps on the key...check to see if your key shows signs of wear...ie. shinny sides and deep marks. If this is the case you will have to have keys made for your car. It may be easy to do if you have T-Tops, you can take a top off and bring it to a lock smith. They can make a key to fit your ignition in about an hour and it should cost about $25-$35. I had to have that doen for my 1991 MR2. Hope this helps!

The pump is in the fuel tank. To test short pin 1+2 on the air flow meter connector. Turn the ignition key to run position (2 click) and listen for the whir or hum of the pump.

My mr2 86 doesn't crank

Make sure you have a good battery/connections. Make sure you have power down to the starter on the B+ terminal if not replace faulty wire or clean/dirty connectionson ensure connections are tight. While someone turns the key make sure you have power in the S terminal. If power make sure the engine isn't locked up and replace the starter. If no power you may have an issue with the ignition switch circuit (stitch, wiring, fuses....)

I have a 1992 Toyota MR2, one evening I cam out to go get a movie, went to start the car and all that happened was the starter started clicking rapidly. I turned the ignition switch off and the starter...

This sound like a more common issue than we in the mr2 community would like to see. The cars are old and the ground wires tend to wear out. But normally the gas pedal cable becomes the place were it grounds out and start a fire. get a cheap ground wire kit for the engine compartment as well as put a few on the battery. Also check existing ground wires. Hope this helps!

Having trouble with linkage, hard to get in gear 1986 toyota MR2

Check the bushings at the motor for the shift cables, worn or binding. The MR2 club has a link to a company who makes brass replacement bushings.
