Question about 1995 Honda Odyssey

My Engine Dies When I let go of the key 1995 Honda Odyssey

When I start the car it begins to run, but when I let go of the key in the ignition, it dies. As long as I hold in the start position it runs, but when I let go it dies. I did this several times and finally wiggled the ignition with the key a little as I let go of it. It continued to run. On another occassion, after I got it started and was driving, it died on me unexpectedly. The car is not running rough or having a problem starting up. It all seems to be related to something in the switch. What should I ask my local mechanic to look for? Thanks Robert

How to start my 2000 Honda odyssey without a key

You can't . The ignition switch does more than just start the engine. The key code can usually be read from the diagnostic connector.

I have a 2001 Honda Odyssey that has an on going problem with it starting when it wants too. And then dies in the middle of me driving with know warning! It will turn over but that's it! I took it to...

Contact your local Honda Dealer, and give them the 17 digit VIN number (on the drivers door jamb, or left lower cormer of the windshield) Honda had a recall on all of the 1999-2004 Ignition switches. If it hasn't been performed, then the dealer will repair it at no charge. What you are describing is a faulty ignition switch. The contacts inside are worn out or burnt, which causes a complete loss of battery power and the engine will shut off. Your VIN number will begin with either 2HKRL (canada) or 5FNRL (alabama) More than likely yours is canada built.

1995 honda odyssey starts and then dies

Isince it cranks, means you have power, elctric system is ok! I guess.. this could be a result of gas delivery problem... either a pump or gas circuit controller.... OR a small propable reason if you have an immobilizer (electronic chip on key!)... but there should be the securit key highlithed on dashboard...

Hello i have a 2001 honda odyssey my engine dies after awhile i drive it so what i do to to get running back again is for me to take out the fuse fuel pump from the kick panel on the driver side and it...

My 2001 Honda Odyssey would completely lose power, foot on the gas pedal and nothing there. There were no warning lights prior to the losing power. After letting the car set for a few minutes it would start and run okay. This happened intermittently over a couple of weeks until finally it didn't want to start at all. When turning the key the car sounded like it wanted to start but wouldn't. After a quick trip to the closest Honda dealership and asking a few questions we were told that it sounded like the main relay needed to be replaced. They showed us where it was located on the Honda, we bought a new one and we easily installed it ourselves. The old relay did have a slight burned smell. My Honda is working fine now and it has been over a week with no problems. I hope this helps someone else.
