SOURCE: Faulty control/instrument panel

I had a problem with my instrument cluster on my 1999 dodge caravan went out. If you hit the top of your dash right above the cluster and it turns on or off then It is a cheep fix if you do it yourself. You take out the gauge cluster by removing screws from the door end of the dash. It is really simple. take out the gauge cluster and unplug it. Look at the plug end that is on the gauge cluster and look were it is soldered into the circuit board. If you look close you will see one or two pins where the solder joint or joints is/are cracked in a circle around the pin. Add some flux and apply heat with a stick type solder gun and it will be fixed. Now reassemble and you just saved 500 dollars minimum.

SOURCE: 1998 Dodge Grand Caravan. Whenever

Reports say that this can be caused by cold solder connections in the centre instrument panel where the A/C controls are. Electrical system issue here manifests itself in instrument cluster. Fix is to remove 4 screws to access A/C stuff. Look for burnt or loose wiring / terminals on connectors in this area.. Re-solder or obtain used replacemnt terminal if needed, from junk yard. Mine is 1999 Grand Caravan. Intermittent failures then permanent with instrument cluster.

The fuse box is located under the hood. There is component map printed on the inside of the cover. This tells you on your model where the fuse or relay is located

I know that there have been issues with cold solder joints on some Chrysler instrument panels of this era. There is a very good Chrysler/Dodge user website that will have instructions. Fixing Dodge Chrysler Plymouth 3G Minivan Instrument Clusters and HVAC

No instrument gages work,0n 2002 dodge caravan se/3.8 engine. what is problem

Start with fuse inside of car. See if its blown. Anything hooked up recently, like radio, tried to use cigarette socket and now doesn't work. Or anything electrical.

My gauges don't work, on the instrument panel why?it's a 1994 dodge caravan 3.0 Liters, list of things that don't work are speedometer - gas - temperature - kilometers - I never know how much gas I have or...

There is a fuse for the instrument under the dash on the drivers side, if the fuse is good. Then give the dash a hit with your close fist right over the instrument panel, sometimes that brings it back to life. It's common for the wire harness clip on the instrument panel circuit board solder goes bad and need to be re soldered, the heat of the current after a few years will melt the solder and the clip comes loose and needs to be re solder back in place. Just remove the instrument panel from the dash, disconnect the wire harness and remove the circuit board and solder the clip back in place. Good luck and hope this helps. be glad to help.
