Does my 99 Nissan with 2.4 engine bend valves when it jumps time?

no engine can bend valve as they are made of good tempered steel .but while fixing them when changing valves or honing them (valve seats ) the less knowledge mechanic might have wrongly or forcefully fixed them .otherwise 80% chances are valves do not bend but less lubrication and foreign materials in the engine oil (if old and not replaced ) can cause rough movements.
please do clean all valve and valve guides with good lubricants and best of luck check valve springs for proper tension.

Car wont start timming belt is being cut into strips engine wont start

The belt is worn out and is disintegrating. It has probably jumped time. The reason the engine won't start. Depending on your car, Some engines are no tolerance. Meaning if you keep cranking it and the belt breaks, the pistons can slap the valves, bending or breaking them. Replace the belt.

If the timing belt jumps will it bend the valves?

Sorry to tell you this but the Neons have an interferance motor meaning the pistons could hit the valves.

I have 1991 subaru lagacy one day it just stop running, found the timming belt had jumped replace the belt it will try to start but wont, rechecked marks on belt all line up.i have spark and 43 psi fuel...

I hate to mention it but,a lot of cars(imports) when they jump time, they also bend valves. They call these interference engines. The piston hits the valves, when they are out of time.the car will not run unless the head is pulled and reworked. If you call NAPA auto parts, and ask for the price of a timing belt ,and then ask,is this a interference engine? and they will tell you for sure if it is in most cases.

Hi,If you are mechanicly inclined replacing the timing belt should be simple ,If the car still runing be sure to aling the timing marks perfect and make a note of the position in a piece of paper,If not you can get the specs at the auto parts where you get the belt ...YES they can jump do to wear and they can cause valves to bend ,this can also cause major engine damage....
