Question about 2000 Toyota Camry
The TPS is used by the vehicles ECM for power enrichment,and idle stability when you remoce the sensor connector the ECM uses a substitute value so you can drive the vehicle. So the TPS is not the problem here You are basically suffering from a vehicle lean condition or false air. Removing the TPS connection only enrichen the car.Trouble shoot the MAF (mass air flow ) this is the one that houses the air filter check the boot going to the intake manifold make sure its not cracked or leaking air giving false air.
