Question about 1993 Mercedes-Benz 190

1 Answer

Lights won't turn off

Hi

I've just bought a 1993 Merc 190D.

When I got it home I noticed that when the engine was turned off, the left headlight and left tail light stayed on, though I'd turned the switch off. With the key in the ignition and the ignition on I can turn off the lights. I had to disconnect the battery in order to leave the car overnight without it draining the battery.

I also noticed that fuse number 1 (blower fan I think) was burnt. I changed it but the problem was still there.

Any thoughts?

2002 Grand Marquis headlights won't turn off with switch, won't go out until vehicle is turned off

Might these be "driving lights"?
Cars with "driving lights" have lights that are supposed to stay on all the time the engine is running.
These lights not only look like headlights, in fact some cars even have the headlights themselves come on when the engine is running. Look as some more (several) 2002 Grand Marquis's and see if they are the same.
Be blessed.

I have a 2005 Outback. Suddenly the lights won't turn off. I can turn the headlights on and off but the parking lights front and rear will not turn off. Any suggestions?

Hi it sounds like you have hit the parklight switch, in some models there is a swith in the steering colum surround peice on the top that is hard to notice and it activates the park lights, give it a try as it may have been knocked on

I have just bought a used 1993 F150. Same exact symptom. I found that the connector that goes to the headlight switch itself had burnt contacts and showed signs of excessive heat. I replaced the connector and everything started working. Good luck.
