No, you will have to get a SKIM key and have it programmed to the car, the key and the car both have to be at the repair facility at the same time for this to happen, the key cannot be programmed independently.

On my 1999 jeep wrangler [2.4L- 5spd] a circle w/a key in it appears on the upper left of the dash & it will start/run for a few seconds then shut down

i would think that it is an immobilizer symbol letting you know of a problem with the key in use
talk with a service dealer or have the fault codes read to see if there is an immobilizer fault

1994 security bypass

just alarm or skim, (engine immobilizer)
did you google that , yet.
skim bypass, is possible only on the most old. jeeps.
newer once are impossible or very expensive to do. $100's

if possilbe. search posts for (google) early 90s.
There is a way to bypass the security system and involves cutting the purple with a yellow strip wire and grounding the lead.

try here,

a real forum on real jeeps, and on tropic, unlike here.
we dont have topics here, so its all RAGU sauce.

How to bypass 02 ignition security on a 2002 jeep grand Cherokee

bypass as in HACK?
you cant,
old cars yes, but not newer.
by design. and law.
this IMMOblizer, (called by jeep. SKIM)

read the FSM book yet on 2002? chapter on SKIM.
chapter 8E, electronic modules.
page 21. read that page first . it answers why.
see secret key code and pin, good luck hacking that.

The skim module blocks the ASD relay (stalls engine)
scanning the PCM with any scan tool it will show, why.
SKIM key wrong, or ?
and with that error the ASD drops and the scan tool tells you that.
so, that means you need to make the SKIM happy.
hacking it , ill not cover, but good luck, its not easy and in most cases impossible.
and if you continue to hack away, the PCM sees that and bricks it self and other modules on the bus as punishments.

good luck hacking.

1686 code came up on 99 jeep cherokee grand...what does this mean?

The p1686 code means :
No SKIM BUS Message received.
possible causes:
1. Invalid SKIM key.
2.wiring harness intermittent defect.
The first thing I would do is check the wiring harness unplug and check for loose pins then reconnect. Hope this helps.

Jeep cherokee sport (year 2000) -- re: bypass for remote ignition

if you went to jeep
they'd tell you not to do that(use what you bought)
Jeep has the right parts....

why to go geeks , its car not a PC.

your car has the IMMO called SKIM. (complex , RTM yet, no)
it will not be hacked by ANY geek or box.
JEEP uses, rolling encrypted codes to start the engine.
SKIM allows it.
your trying to bypass that with out jeeps help is nuts.
over the top, waste of time or even worse DANGEROUS.

why put this junk on your car.?
the car works great with out it.!
then late, you need car fixed and your mechcanic
needs to jump hoops to discover what some other idiott did.
hacking up a good working car.
or far far from town and it fails, and nobody can help
you did that to your self.!!!

here, go to jeep
buy the MOPAR system if H3ll bent to have this junk

Chrysler Concorde LXI 4 door - 2004 The car starts up and seconds after, the RPM drops and the car shuts off. The code P0513 comes up on the computer.

That is a code for an invalid skim key. If you have another skim key try it. If it does the same thing then the skim module may be bad.

p0513 invalid skim key
do you have an aftermarket alarm that is "remote start" compatible? if so, the skim is reading that the car is starting without a key, but the alarm module is allowing it to start, bypassing the skim module.

p0517 High battery temp sensor.
Either the battery is gettign to hot and/or it has a bad sensor.
