Question about 2011 Toyota Highlander
When stopped, say a median or light, I try to accelerate and the car jerks once or twice before I can proceed to where I am going. Is this normal. Techs say it's the BA system and it's normal, but this just started happening last week. I bought this new and has 9000 miles on it and this is normal? Can't understand why this is first time to see this with having vehicle for over a year now.

SOURCE: acceleration problem
The first thing to do is run and OBD 2 code check, any parts store like Auto Zone or Kragen will do this for free, others thing to check are the MAF sensor, clean it by buying MAF sensor spray, CRC makes this product, spray the inside of the MAF to clean out any dirt or dust that may have gotten on the wire element that is the actual sensor, another thing is replace the fuel filter if you haven't done so and check the fuel pressure at the test port on the top of the engine, it is a Shrader type valve, like a tire valve, you will need a fuel injection pressure tester for this, they are cheap, about $20, far less than having a shop do it for $50-$100. If you have codes in the computer (PCM) post them back here and I will help define them and suggest a repair strategy.

Wow, great description...I suspect the catalyst is bad...(in the exhaust) but try this cheap fix.
go to Advance Auto Parts and buy a can of "SeaFoam" ($8) and following the directions add to fuel and drive for at least 100 miles...see if that helps...if not, have a mechanic look at the catalytic convertor/exhaust
