Question about 1992 Honda Accord

1 Answer

Running lights? On '92 Accord Wgn.: There appear to be some lights on the front - in between the turn signals, which are really on the side, and the headlamps. Mine are burnt, or no bulbs. I don't know what those little lights are for. Also, I bought some bulbs, so how to get to them (?) Thanks!

I tried to pry GENTLY, as advised, but I guess I wasn't gentle enough on the first one, or maybe didn't just go STRAIGHT FORWARD.
There is one metal looking "clip", or insert, and three plastic "inserts" to secure the lamp. The three plastic ones broke (pretty easily).
On the second lamp I was more careful, and it came out fine.
"1/4 turn" was helpful advise also.

    Thanks!

These lamps are the parking, or running lamps which denote the corner of the vehicle yellow for front and red for rear.. open the hood and on the top of each lamp there is a phillips screw..take it out and the lamp willslide forward..( there is a plastic clip at the bottom that secures it also) GENTLY pry the lamp toward the front of the vehicle and it will expose the lamp socket. these are 1/4 turn and they will come out..remove the burned out bulb and put in a new one...turn on the lights and check they are working BEFORE you re-install the lamp!

Parking lights not working

Could be your turn signal switch. We had the same problem with a 92 Chevrolet S-10, replaced the switch, and all lights worked.

Rear turn signal does not work

If the indicators on the dash are staying lit all the time, it is because you likely have a bad ground to one of your running lights, causing the running lights to ground through the turn signal circuits. This is often caused by either a bad socket assembly at one of the bulbs or an incorrect bulb is installed in one of the sockets. You need to check FRONT and REAR lights to see which one is not working correctly. Also check the running lights and marker lights on BOTH sides of the vehicle. There will be SOMETHING that will not look the same from one side to the other if the left side is working correctly and the right side is not. Please keep in mind that you cannot use the right REAR turn signal without also using the right FRONT turn signal. The problem could be at EITHER end.

check the front bulbs .

turn on the LEFT (fullt functioning ) turn signal ,

now turn on the right (broken) signal and note which lights are NOT blinking that had been on the fully functioning signal indicator.

92 honda accord will not even attempt to turn over. Was running fine, turned the car off and then would not start again. battery appears to be fine as all lights are working. now what?

The lights are not really an indication of the battery condition. They require about 5% of the power it needs to turn the starter. Check if the dash lights dim or go out when you try start. The only other ways of testing a battery is with a load tester or a hydrometer which tests the SG of the acid and give an indication of the state of charge of the battery. Try charge the battery or you can attempt a jump start from another vehicle about the same age as yours.

92 Honda accord: My side running lights in front not working (on both sides). When I took out the bulbs found that connections were very dirty. Looked as if there was some grease inside the female...

The grease is probably dielectric grease and acts as a water repellent. It's meant to be there. Those little bulbs do burn out frequently, so yes, they probably have been out for a while. Just replace them and it should be good for a while.
