Question about 1996 Chevrolet K1500
Just bought a 1996 Silverado 1500 4x4 with a 5.0l 305 Vortec. The engine sounds great mechanically, no ticks, no knocks, no rattles. Seems tight. The problem is simply no power. It seems to hesitate, especially under a load. The truck has 212k miles on it, but seems to have been fairly well maintained and seems to have alot of life left in it.
What can I do to increase the performance, and where should I start looking for horsepower robbing problems?
Id start off with a basic tune up..you never know when u first buy a car when this stuff was lasted checked up on..i would first change the fuel filter if its clogged its really going to slow you down..then i would do and oil change to it and maybe the plugs and wires..check all of the fluid levels especially the transmission fluid..if you want to add horsepower and performance i would put better oil better wires and plugs and maybe a k&n filter instead of a paper one..
