Question about 1993 Nissan NX

1 Answer

Water pump removal, 93 NX SR20,what needs to come out to replace pump?

Can the water pump be removed after pwr. steering pump moved away, ie: out the back of the engine, no clearance between chasis for it to come up & out ? Had the eng. mount & pwr. steering reservoir out but still no room to get a water pump in ?? Tried service manual method, no luck. Frustrated but hav'nt given up yet ?

I'am replacing water pump 2006 grand prix, all bolts are remove but one. I can't remove it because theres a wheel pully in the way. I think it's the power steering pump help.

You may have to remove the pump...
BUT , maybe not...
The pump pully has holes in it... with the power steering belt loose or off ... turn the pully to see if the holes will allign with the bolt you are trying to remove... if not... then the power steering pump must be removed to gain access to the last bolt..

Do I have to remove the whole power steering to install water pump?

I think on that model you have to remove the power steering pump pulley first before you can get to the rest of the power steering pump mounting bolts.
You can rent a special puller / installer from one from your local auto parts store.
Once you have pulled the pulley and removed the pump mounting bolts, just drop the whole pump unit with the hoses attached out of the way of the water pump.
Good Luck.
