    what kind of car and what year, usaly what i see is the mass air flow sensor collect dirt and varnish. some brake clean wil help

It could be your fuel filter clogged and/or fuel pump getting weak ... does it back fire ?

try adding heavy gage ground wire(s) to fire wall, starter bolts anywhere that looks like thick steel.

Upon accelaration car hesitates then will accelarate normally


It may be possible that you may have a dirty fuel filter and it needs to be replaced, ibwould first check that, next check your o2 sensor, it could be causing it to cut out the way it is. Finally it may be dirty injectors which you can get cleaned with a DIY kit. However I am betting that it is your fuel filter that simply needs replaced. The timing belt is one tooth off. Pull the covers back off, set the engine to TDC and recheck your marks, and make sure that the tension is correct.

Engine rattles at acceleration and hesitates


This sounds like your ignition timing is awry. You'll need a timing light to verify if this is correct. If that's OK the your valve clearances may be a little loose.
