Delco Clock/AM/FM Stereo Cassette Radio does not work

Clock display stuck at 1:00 on Radio Control Head Assembly, Radio & Cassette player do not work. Not able to change or set clock. “SET” shows up on RH side of display when SET PB is depressed, but depressing SEEK or SCAN PB’s has no affect. Set function times out 5 seconds after last button is depressed. Pushing PWR button results in FM 98.1 to appear in display, with volume setting at 5. Four to five seconds after last PB is depressed the display changes to the clock function, with volume setting remaining at 5 with NO audio output. Speaker Balance & Fade buttons on Radio Head assembly will bring up the associated Balance & Fade display below the channel readout (FM 98.1) for 8 seconds after last button is depressed, but the buttons have no effect to the setting of the Balance or Fade display, both remain at the mid range setting. When radio is powered up as described above, pressing any of the below buttons has no effect on the display: Channel Preset buttons (unless pressed twice, then displays changes to FM 98.1 for approx. 5 seconds), AM/FM, & Tune. When radio is powered up as described above, pressing any of the buttons listed below results in the display changing from Clock Mode to displaying FM 98.1 for 4 to 5 seconds: RCL, Volume, Seek, Set (Set is displayed in the upper RH corner). Pushing the Scan button results in “FM 98.1 SCAN” locked in the display until another button is depressed. Depressing the Vol button has no effect when the display is locked in the above scan mode. If left in this SCAN mode for more then 5 seconds and then the SEEK button is depressed, the word SCAN disappears from the bottom RH corner of the display. Graphic Display on Cassette Deck does not light up in any mode. The only functions that works on the Cassette Deck is the eject function. There is no Voltage present between the RED wire at the Radio Connector C248A (going to cassette deck) and Ground. This leads me to believe that the Radio Receiver is faulty. Info off Radio Receiver: M/N: 16147065 S/N: 6002809 Prod ID: CDM Front Speaks were blown for about 3 years b/4 the Clock/Radio/Cassette quite working.

SOURCE: radio's display won't light up

The radios in the 2000 Mountaineer are notorious to short out. You simply have to get a new one. Believe me. I had the same problem.

SOURCE: I have a 1989 Tbird with 'only' 6,700 miles.

Over time the capacitors in the radio start to brake down. You might have to just take it out of the car and see how it looks inside of the radio. You might find the same one on ebay to keep the care stock. Good luck.

How do I fix the clock display on my 1999 Pontiac Sunfire?

It appears to be that the radio clock display has malfunctioned, and is due for a replacement radio, which could be an aftermarket or oem radio, maybe found at a junk yard.

Tools required for oem replacement radio, torx keys set.

Before working on the radio or other electronics, disconnect the battery cables with 8mm wrench.

Replacing the oem radio is much easier, if you obtain oem radio, compared to aftermarket radio, due to being direct fit.

The radio is same for 1995 to 1999 Pontiac Sunfire and the Chevy Cavalier, regardless of sub models, such as SE,GT, VL,VLX,Z24. etc.

Parts needed for the the aftermarket radio install :Stereo assembly, stereo wiring harness adapter, radio antenna adapter, and dash install kit.wiring diagram for the wire colors / functions, along with tools, such as torx key set, screwdrivers, wire crimper, wire stripper, double ended wiring connectors, hair dryer.

The oem stereo removal video is for the 2000 to 2005 Sunfire / Cavalier, but are the same or very similar procedures.

What do i press to start the unlock prossess on a 02 impala delco stereo cassette player

There is no "unlock process" that I am aware of. If the radio/stereo says "LOCK" on the display, it is because it is either not the original radio for the car, or it is not getting the correct VIN from the Powertrain Control Module. It "thinks" it has been stolen and installed in a different vehicle.

If you are installing a used radio from a salvage yard or something like that, it will be necessary to have the radio memory "re-flashed" with the correct VIN for the vehicle it is going into.
Your local GM dealer can do this for you, but you must produce proof that you own the vehicle and proof that shows where you got the used radio from.
