Question about 2005 Nissan Armada SE

Open Question

Nissan armada horn and gadgets on the steering wheel such as: volume control, cruise control, etc. stopped working.

I bought the armada truck used. but everything worked until 2 months later. My horn stopped working and the gadgets on the steering wheel such as volume control/radio controls and cruise control stopped working. Also, the CD changer does not work. when I press on the CD button to go to CD, it does not work it reverts back to radio or aux. Another thing is the DVD screen does not work. The DVD player in the middle consol powers on just fine but not the flip down screen which came with the truck.

SOURCE: my overhead console is coming

The overhead console on our 2008 Nissan Armada w/entertainment system is also coming off (at the back, where it's secured by clips and not by screws like the rest of the console). Dealer told me today that it cannot be repaired and that I must replace the entire console, including the DVD screen and rear controls. I'm raising the BS flag! We purchased the Security Plus Gold Preferred extended warranty (we have yet to find a component that we have needed replaced that has been covered, so beware. Surprisingly, it covers things like the oil dipstick, and we all know that those go bad all of the time). Going to have a chat with Nissan tomorrow. More to follow...

Horn and cruise control stop working

There is a device called a "clock spring" inside the steering wheel/column. It contains all the various wires to the buttons on the steering wheel. Sometimes these clock springs that wind and unwind every time the steering wheel is used simply wear out or break causing the problem you cite - no electricity gets to the buttons on the steering whell. Replacing the "clock spring" is mildly expensive. Parts and labor about 400-500 bucks.

Fuse is good horn still don't work

Does the cruise control, volume control and the other steering wheel controls work? This is likely the clockspring, which is located inside the steering wheel assembly

Audio controls do not work on nissan altima

long story short, your car problem is, the spiral cable is braking up.
it fits under the steering wheel,
spiral cable is the part that connect the moving side (steering wheel)function buttons, horn, air bag, to the fixed side (car electric loom).
good luck

How do you fix the horn which is not working?

First the simple things. Check the fuse. Next open the hood and using a "test wire" hook up to the horn and make sure it's working. Finally with these possibilities eliminated you must assume it's a wiring problem in the steering column. If you have a newer vehicle with cruise control, audio control buttons possibly an air bag it can be a little tough for the average Joe to deal with. These newer cars with all the gadget controls on the steering wheel have a recoiling ribbon wire that extends and contracts as the wheel is turned. Older cars and trucks have a simple spring loaded contact that rides against a brass ring to complete the horn circuit. You'll need a steering wheel puller to get to the problem and if you're unsure you should probably take the car to a mechanic.

2004 F250 diesel Cruise control and horn stopped working after horn started blowing by itself then it stopped by itself after several minutes and now the fuise blows when you hit the horn

Hi, assuming you have cruise controls on the steering wheel, I would say your clockspring has failed. The contacts for the horn must be crossed with the cruise contacts. Replacement requires removal of the steering wheel (special tool) and airbag, etc. Please let me know if you would like instructions.

The horn and cruise control doesn't work, fuses are

sounds like a bad clockspring. located in steering column under steering wheel, operates airbag, horn cruise etc, it make wire connection possible so the wheel can spin, its a roll of flat wires, that unroll and roll up as steering wheel is truned from left to right, wires break after a while.
