Question about 1996 Ford Taurus

1996 Taurus Wagon - Intermittant electrical drain while running

I have a 1996 Ford Taurus Wagon with a 3.0 liter engine that my step daughter drives. The air conditioner clutch seized and we had the compressor removed and replaced by an idler before she started driving it. Now on occasion when she is driving it the lights will dim, the radio will fade out, the speedometer and gages will all drop to zero. If she shuts the car off it will not restart. This has happened twice since August. When I jumped started it the first time it ran fine until it happened again today. When I jumped it tonight it started right up but when I disconnected the cables it died like it had no electrical power. When I jumped it again and left it connected for a couple of minutes it ran fine. The second time I moved the disconnected AC plugs and checked some of the alternator connections to see if they were tight. Could it be the unconnected AC plugs? We've owned the car for 7 years and it never happened before we had the compressor removed.

I would have the alternator and the battery tested for proper operation, Kragen auto and other chain auto part stores do this for free.

What is the engine capacity cc's for a 2004 Ford wagon

Ford had two wagons in 2004, the Taurus and the Focus.
The Taurus had a 3.0 liter (3000cc) engine. The Focus had two options for the engine. Either a 2.0 liter (2000cc) or a 2.3 liter (2300cc) engine. I'm not sure which one you are referring to but I hope this helps.

How to change a radiator on a 1996 ford taurus

  1. Step 1 Drive your Ford Taurus up a set of ramps onto a pair of jack stands, if it is a 1996 model or newer. Remove the lower splash shields. For 1986 through 1995 models, you can remove all necessary components from above.
  2. Step 2 Begin by disconnecting the negative battery terminal and draining the radiator into a transportable container. Open the plastic draincock on the lower rear of the radiator and crack the radiator cap.
  3. Step 3 Remove the overflow tube from the coolant recovery bottle and disconnect it from the radiator. On SHO model engines, remove the recovery bottle as well. Next unscrew the shroud and remove it from the retaining clips. Disconnect the wires to the fan motor, and remove the fan assembly and shroud in one piece.
  4. Step 4 Squeeze the hose clamp ends together on the radiator side, and remove the upper and lower hoses. For automatic transaxle models, use either the custom Ford disconnect tool T82L-9500-AH or two crescent wrenches to remove the transmission coolant lines.
  5. Step 5 Disconnect the radiator supports. 1986 through 1992 models will have two upper retaining screws for 3.0 liter and SHO engines. 3.8 liter engines will have two driver's side hex nuts and two passenger side screws. All other models have either the upper screws or the combination of right hand hex nuts and left hand screws.
  6. Step 6 Tilt the radiator backwards toward the engine and lift it out. Fit the new radiator into the support and replace the support screws and nuts. Reattach the hoses and wires in reverse order.
  7. Step 7 Flush the new radiator with either water or a commercial flush treatment. Connect your battery terminals and replace the coolant and let the engine idle for 5 to 10 minutes with the heater on and the radiator cap removed. Top off the coolant as necessary.
Thank you,
Lee

I need a new Trans for a 1996 ford Taurus GL wagon.

The best way is to use the vehicle VIN number, here is a link to a Ford Vin Number Look-up site, that will tell you the transmission code and the type of transmission you have:

1996 ford station wagon LX ,transmission fluid over filled, only drives well when over drive is turned off. how do i drain some of the transmission fluid, and do you think thats the problem

Yes, too much fluid will give you overpressure in the tranny. If its a ford then you probably don't have a drain plug on the bottom of the tranny. You might have to remove several of the pan bolts on the aft edge of the tranny and let it drain that way.

Clunk when shifting car into drive from park 1990 ford taurus.

If the front end vibrates when you put the brakes on it could be a few different problems. Your need to check the brakes, they may be worn. if the back brakes are worn your front brakes are doing all the stopping. if your brakes are fine then you are looking at the front control arms or the upper and lower ball joints. You can take your car to a brake and front end shop for a free estimate. You are probably looking at about 400 to 1200 dollars.
I hope this helps you out
