Question about Cars & Trucks
I installed a pyle PLCM4300wir backup camera system to my 2012 Kia Sorento..... The camera itself is connected to the backup light in the tailgate, and I can see the image when I put the gear in reverse....I have the monitor (rear view mirror) installed and I connected as follows: Used an "Add A Circuit" to connect the Positive wire to an unused 7.5amp circuit on the fuse box, but removed the 7.5 fuse, and added a 2amp fuse for safety since it is the only thing used on this circuit.... I grounded the negative wire to the car chassis, and I connected the green wire to the parking brake wire as stated on the instructions..... The manual for the camera states that when the monitor is in the "on" position and I shift into reverse, I will see the backup camera image....This is true....And I have no problem with this.......I can see the image fine when I **** into reverse, and when I shift to drive or park, I do not see any image, but I do see a blue screen..... This is where my question begins: The manual also states that when the monitor is in the "off" position, I will get the backup image when I shift into reverse, since the power for the camera turns on with the backup lights), and when I shift out of reverse, the camera should shut back down...... This is not happening....If I turn off the monitor and shift into reverse, I do not get the backup image......I have to turn the monitor on manually in order to get the image..... And then, the monitor will give me a blue screen when I shift out of reverse.....The monitor will not shut itself off... As soon as I turn my car ignition to the on position, the monitor turns on, and as I understand it, the monitor should stay off, if this is the option I chose.....

no disrespect but....
Check the book and make sure you are using the proper bulbs on all sides. (3957 looks just like 3956 but wont work right)

try disconnecting the plug off the reverse light switch (on the transmission) and bridging out the 2 terminals and then see if your revers lights work if they do replace the switch

Check fuse #41, if its good then the brake switch may need replacing. You can test the power to the switch by the use of a voltage meter touching the LG/RD (light green/red) wire with the red side of the meter and the other probe to ground. If more than 10 volts its good. You can check the BPP (brake pedal position switch) by installing a fused jumper wire from LG/RD to the RD/LG wires. Connect a 10A fused jumper wire between C242, Circuit 10 (LG/RD), harness side and C242, Circuit 810 (RD/LG), harness side. And check the brake lights, if they go on then the switch is defective. Hope this helps you.
